  • Oil Pressure – how much is too much?

Posted by Bryan on November 25, 2013 at 7:27 pm

I had my generator oil and filter changed while having main engine done. I now see oil pressure of 80 psi. Previously it always stuck around 60. Is this harmful? Oil is not overfull on the dipstick and is the correct viscosity. It is a 4 cylinder Kubota. 21kw.

Maybe a filter problem or oil pressure sending unit.

The question I would have is if the oil pressure is a cold one or after the unit has warmed up to operating temperature.

If it is after the generator has reached operating temperature, then what is it until it reaches its running temp? My concern would be a pressure relief valve that is not functioning as it should.
