Oil Pan Gasket
Has anyone replaced their Series 60 oil pan gasket (black one) and if so was any adhesive or sealer used in the pan groove?
I have my oil pan out and it does not appear any adhesive or bonding agent was used to hold the gasket in place on the pan prior to re-assembly.

Nothing used on it….On a couple I have used some aviation adhesive it the gasket isnt cooperating with me…

Your oil pan gasket goes in place dry with staggered bolt torque.
I’am sure you knew about bolt torque ….mentioned this for PC readers.
If you have a gasket that you find shrunk …that is old product and should be returned as defective.
Another reason new gaskets don’t fit right is improper warehouse storage in hot warehouses which causes gaskets to shrink.

Jon, if you need a little something to hold it in place, hylomar is what I would suggest.

Other than the corners which Detroit calls for a Locktite adhesive sealant there is no mention of the use of anything elsewhere.
I am following the Detroit procedure for installation, bolt tightening sequence and torque. Just seeing if anyone had any other tips.

The oil pan isolators should be replaced when replacing the oil pan gasket. These isolators provide the correct tension on the gasket to the block. There was an issue recently concerning the isolators being too short. Compare the new to the old to be sure you got the right ones.
