Oil Breather catch can
1999 Series 60 with strait crankcase breather tube. I only get a couple of oil spots after stopping for the day but it is annoying. Has anyone added a catch can to stop the drips? If so, what did you use.

When I purchased my 1999 in 2006 with 47,000 miles it emitted visible smoke at idle from the vent tube. Can’t recall any drips but the smoke bothered me.
I installed a Donaldson HD truck PCV system filter/separator designed to be installed on pcv equipped trucks to clean pcv air before it is reintroduced to the engine. The vent tube from my valve cover is connected by flex hose to the unit input. Air is then fed through the unit and separated oil is drained from the bottom of the unit through a hose into the engine sump. Mine is then vented to atmosphere.
I very rarely notice any visible vapor from vent tube. The only negative other than the original purchase price is the fact that I change out the very oily filter every 10,000 miles and they cost about $100.

Don’t have a picture but the breather pipe is vertical on the drivers side and terminates in a 1″ x 10″ long rubber hose that extends just below the bottom of the oil pan and is open to the atmosphere. I would like to contain the vapor and drippings. I don’t think I need much oil capacity but do want some sort of baffles or mesh to catch the vapor. Of most concern is the ability to breath easy. I don’t want to create any back pressure on the breather. If there are no simple ones available I will fab something up.
I will look at the Donaldson but really only want a catch can.

Take a look at this. I put it on my 8v71. I mounted it to the block and ran rubber hose from the tubes to the tank.
I have not had to empty it yet but it seems to be pretty simple and it catches all the crud that my drool tubes were blowing out.
I don’t know how different the series 60 is from the 8v71 but I would think they would have something to fit yours also. I don’t remember the price but I know it was not bad.
