Oh so close, yet so far
As some of you may be aware I recently purchased a coach in Tennessee and plotted my trip home to Langley Canada almost 3000 miles. I allowed for 6 days so as not to push the coach, driver and co- pilot too hard. Aside from minor hiccups along the way the travel went well and we saw a good portion of America albeit we would have loved to stay and discover some of the intersting sites along the way. But I had a date at the border to process the final paper work for exporting/importing the coach. So yesterday was the big day to deal with the border. I was excited and a wee bit nervous. The USA side was a breeze as they just looked at the original title and never inspected the coach. The Canadian side went well too in terms of process…..they just wanted federal taxes to be collected. So the paper work was minimal….but my exit from Canadian customs did not go smoothly. Just as I left the border I heard a bang/pop under the coach and lost power steering. A hydraulic line failed at the back end. I man handled the coach over to the side….. I was feeling so depressed as I had come this far and only had 25 miles to go to get home. I phoned Jeff who was on speed dial for me all week…….he calmed me down and talked me through the issue. As Prevost is so close to where I live I gave them a call and they arranged for a wrecker to tow me to the Prevost shop. The tow driver did all the necessary procedures to tow me……… pulled the half shafts, air the coach up and cradled the tires. So I gained a lot of of useful information along the way, and for me the best lesson is to remain calm. Crap happens but problems can be solved. My very special thanks to Jeff who helped me the entire journey home. Hopefully I will have the coach in my backyard by tomorrow.
