  • Now Taking Orders: Prevost XL LED Headlight Kit

Posted by Matthew on July 7, 2020 at 2:46 am

Early Adopter Orders are filling up fast, but you have until midnight on Friday night, July 10th to email me at matt@prevostLEDupgrade.com to confirm you want to be included in the Early Adopter Order for a $400 savings.

The website will be launched by midnight on Tuesday (tomorrow) as I finish the final details of this new and exciting website. As a “heads up” there are many more products in the queue behind this one that will be available on the website.

Standard price is $1,695, but Early Adopter price is only $1,295.

50% deposit due on order (I will contact you after the 10th); 50% balance due at time of shipping approximately 2-3 weeks following order (target is 2 weeks). Pricing does NOT include shipping (based on actuals), sales taxes (only for those in Arizona), or the 2.9% processing fee PayPal charges. Checks can be mailed as well.

Price includes one pair of JW Speaker 8900 Generation 2 in chrome. NOTE: The photos of the final installed Prevost XL LED Headlight Upgrade show my original Generation 1 in chrome. My Generation 2 should be arriving by next week allowing me to take night-time photos and videos. The Generation 2 is new and improved with increased lumen output while maintaining DOT compliance. As an upgrade, the 8910 with heated lens element in chrome is also available for those who drive in areas with snow/ice accumulation (LED does not get hot enough to melt the snow/ice). We can lock that in at time of order processing.

The pictures below were taken yesterday in 112 degree F heat here in Arizona but I did a decent job of cleaning up the front end before photographing with my Nikon D5 and Micro-Nikkor 60mm F/2.8 macro lens which is used for close-up nature photography so it shows all of the details.

The version photographed does NOT have the (3) slots for adjustment of the headlight bucket using a screwdriver that reaches behind the exterior polished stainless steel cover. This is available as an option at no additional cost.

Please note that I am using polished, stainless steel Allen head machine screws that I plan to swap out with either Torx or security head screws in a similar rounded head in polished stainless. Please let me know in the comments if you prefer Torx or security head screws (I will include a bit for the security head).

The exterior trim fascia is 18 gauge 304 stainless with a #8 “mirror finish” polish from the factory. It is even more reflective than the photos show – look at the details in the reflections. The shadows make the gaps around the perimeter look bigger than they are. The sub-assembly has both X and Y axis (horizontal and vertical) adjustment to perfectly center the headlight. In 112 degree F head I left it “as is”. The gaps around the perimeter of the trim measured against the bezel are between the thickness of a business card up to a credit card – far tighter gaps than the stock where you can stick a finger in between the bezel and the corner of the factory headlight. I brought the polished trim as far forward as possible for a clean, integrated look. The bottom edge makes a nice sweeping bend to fill in the gap between the polished trim and the bezel.

The interior sub-assembly is 16 gauge 304 stainless using the same factory mounting points and hardware to install this upgraded LED headlight kit as the original Ford F-150 headlights that will be removed. Where possible, all interior hardware is also stainless steel.

A custom electrical harness is included along with the supporting headlight bucket allowing horizontal and vertical beam alignment after installation. The owner/installer will need to cut the end of the old headlight lamp socket off and crimp (3) wires per side. Heat shrink will be provided to make a nice, permanent, water-tight connection.

Please email me if you have any questions at matt@prevostLEDupgrade.com. I will send you my mobile number to discuss any questions that you may have. Thank you for your patience and excitement as I completed this project that both improves the forward lighting and integrates/maintains the original aesthetics.
