Hello Everyone,
I apologize for any delays in getting back with you. It has
been a long few weeks. The Fall Carlisle Event and Auction was last weekend. It
was a wet week in PA to say the least. Fall Carlisle is mostly outdoors so it definitely
made it a challenge for all of our guests. The Auction is held indoors and it
was not affected by Mother Nature. In fact, we concluded with the best Auction
we ever had. We sold over 60% of the registered vehicles for a total of
$4,600,000 in sales. We sold a beautiful Boss 429 for $200,000 dollars. Remind
me to tell you the story of how a few of us had to verify several things to
make sure that the new owner followed through with the purchase. It was pretty
interesting.Last Tuesday while parked in my RV spot at Carlisle I had a
very scary situation take place. It all
started when I went back to the coach to throw a nice fresh piece of salmon on
the grill for lunch. After it was cooked to a perfect charred outside with a
medium rare center (LOL), I stood at the table facing the bus to enjoy my good
but quick lunch. After one bite something prompted me to turn around and look
up the hill toward our gate. Immediately I was faced with a black mercury
mountaineer with a small trailer behind it barreling straight toward me. I
honestly hesitated in the first few seconds, as I thought that it must be
someone I know playing a strange type of chicken. As competitive (or in this
case stupid) as I am I didn’t move out from between this vehicle and my coach.
Another second or two passed until I finally realized that even if the driver
wanted to, there is no way that they would have never been able to stop against
the loose gravel surface. I did finely jump out of the way only to see my totally
original 1993 Liberty smashed into by a runaway truck and trailer. Needless to
say I was not very happy when the driver finally arrived at the scene to try
and explain to me why he must have put it in neutral instead of park. After a
few hours of asking why this had to happen, I finally realized that my health
is far more important than any material thing I or any of us will ever own.
Funny how certain situations can really put things into the proper perspective
at times.So late Monday evening, after 4 hours of unexpectedly rewiring
the trailer lights I was headed south. My first stop was http://www.aap.com/ in Virgina. I had sent them
one of my Cruisairs a few weeks back only to find out that it was burnt beyond
even being used for a core. So they were expecting me early Tuesday morning to
install a brand new unit. I got in at 4am only to have John waking me up at
7:30 telling me that we had a lot of work to do. We disconnected the trailer
and moved the bus in the shop. John got started right away and to my amazement
my center air was ice cold by lunch time. Speaking of lunch Fred (the owner of
AAP) invited me to jump in his truck and go to a great little Italian place
with him. It was interesting to learn that both he and John are some of the
first employees at Cruisair back in the 60’s. They have also been with AAP ever
since the previous owner started the air cooled division of Cruisair in 1980. I
have met a lot of great service people in the last 8 years of coach ownership
and I put Tina, Fred and John at the top of the list. It’s just nice to know that
when you have AC issues even with a 25 year old coach we can still get them
resolved without a whole lot of pain.Left AAP by 1:00 or so and south to Prevost in Jacksonville.
I called ahead and Kelly gave me the gate code do to my middle of the night
arrival. Again I got in around 3am, had a drink and went to bed. Met with Kyle
in morning and showed him the damage on the passenger side of my what used to
be a perfect (cosmetically) coach. He was a pleasure to deal with as usual and
said that he would email me an estimate in the next day or so. The only bad information
that he had for me was that parts would probably be 6 to 8 weeks. Unfortunately,
I will be hiding my coach when all of you arrive for the event.So, off to Lakeland just in time for hurricane Matthew. Tisha
and I had plans to meet up with some friends last night in St Pete. After
seeing the parking lot all day on I4, on account of everyone headed to the west
coast we decided to ride it out here at the Sun-n-Fun facility in the coach. We
figured if we lost power at least we had the generator. Thankfully the storm
was not as bad as predicted on the East coast or here in Lakeland. We didn’t
even have to start the generator.OH DID I MENTION THAT I AM AN OFFICIAL FULL-TIMER!!!!! That’s
right I settled on my house Monday before I left PA. It was a fantastic historic
house in downtown Harrisburg. I actually just celebrated 20 years there this
past September. It was a great chapter of my life, but I am so ready for the
next one behind the wheel with Tisha and TannerJOk so I am in Lakeland and focused full time on finishing up
some of the Air and Coach Concours agenda. I have several meetings setup next
week and will post the agenda by next Friday. For those of you that have been
asking yes Skip Frye will be entertaining us Friday evening of the event. If
you have not seen Skip with us before he puts on a great show and you are sure

Betty and I are not certain about being able to attend the Florida Nov function but this past week in Kerrville, Texas there was a Newmar rally while we were passing through. A set of workers from Dazzling Details of Florida had come to Kerrville to wash and clean coaches attending the rally.
The point is that they were excellent and were heading to Prevost Ft Worth after the rally. They also did my coach and I was very impressed.
I assume that you all know of this Florida company. My thought was that they are an obvious add on for any group.

We are getting close to the Air and Coach Concours in November. It is a great event and lots of fun.
The event runs from 11/8 through 11/13 so block out some time and come to Lakeland FL. Lots to see and do and a lot of great fun connecting with other Prevost owners.

Tom or Jon, have any numbers of coaches signed up for the event in Lakeland yet.
I am in Kerrville right now and am going to start to work my way there next week.
