Not Prevost Related, Junk Phone Calls
If anyone calls me and I hang up it is because we are being driven crazy by junk phone calls. They are just like junk mail, except junk mail only gets picked up at the mailbox once and then right into the trash. The phone calls are endless. This week I “have been selected…………..”, my warranty on my pickup has run out, this is an important message, etc. etc. etc.
About half of the calls nobody says anything when we say hello. We used to repeat the hello greeting, but since most of the time there is nobody there the phone gets hung up in a little less than a nano second. If that was you I hung up on, I am sorry, but the way if works is if I say hello, it is then your turn to speak. Do it quick or you will hear the click.
The do not call list is a joke. The caller ID rarely identifies who is calling except when it is real people so sometimes I see the caller ID and before the receiver is 6″ off the cradle, it is already on its way to hanging up. There are some that get hung up instantly. Fort Lauderdale in the caller ID is a company that wants me to buy one of their service insurance policies for one of my cars. Yorba Linda has never identified itself or said hello so that call gets hung up instantly. If the number is blocked I am alread spring loaded to hanf up. Some show my name in the caller ID and all of those are telemarketers and get hung up.
So in addition to hanging up the phone quickly when someone calls, our cell phones never are turned on except when we travel and usually only when we expect a call or might want to make a call. I dislike the phone when I worked for a living, now I despise the phone. Do others go through the same abuse? Why can’t it be mandated that if I get a call I don’t want, I can press a button and not only block follow up phone calls, but add them to a list that is automatically blocked from reaching my phone. Always give out your cell phone … since you never have it on anyway, you’ll limit the spam calls!
Tim, I give out our FAX line number and that is set for manual receive, and it only rings in my office. We still get calls on the land lines. The cell lines are pretty free of robocalls and telemarketers because they are off so much those folks seem to not use them.

this is exactly why I like my iPhone, if I do not recognize the number or it is not defined to a name in my list of numbers I do not answer.
If it is someone whom I MIGHT want to talk to who I do not recognize their number they can leave me a message and I will return the call, or they can text although I am not a fan of texting.
after the first contract which might turn into future contact I can enter them into my list.I only answer about 10% of incoming calls. I like it.

Same with me, the crap calls are wearing me out, I get them daily on Verizon. I also have stopped answering calls I don’t know, a big concern for me if someone needs batteries, but all I can do is hope they leave a message.
I do the no call list every 6 months, it’s just another government joke, it doesn’t work like the rest of that bunch. I just looked and have 98 blocked call numbers on my IPhone and add almost daily.

On my iPhone you can get a “silent” ringtone. Make it the default… Then assign a regular ringtone to those you want to hear. The scammers still call…. But you won’t hear it.You can also block numbers. I have quite a big list of blocked numbers now…. No solar company can get me now!
All this phone junk annoys me too. I can’t wait to be successful enough to have someone else deal with my phone!!
