Norgren Valves
We all have them. Over time they need to be replaced.
They are expensive, but Norgren now makes it easy to buy direct and the savings is impressive. But you have to do a little work. Prevost apparently has Norgren apply proprietary numbers so you cannot order based on the Prevost part number or the number on the Norgren valve.
So you have to compare the valve from the coach with the product description on the Norgren site listed here:
http://store.norgren.com/us/en/list/valves/manual_mechanical-valves
Then scroll down until you find the valve that matches the valve you want to replace. An example is here:
One thing you will notice immediately is the price of $96.65 for what we call a five port Norgren valve. The typical price reported is in the $150 range. Each coach has at least two of the five port valves so there is an instant savings of $100, more if your coach has three of them.
The web site also has the option of chatting with a representative. While it is unlikely you will get any help if you use the Prevost part number or the Norgren proprietary number, if you have the physical description of the valve, such as number of “ports”, type of actuator, size of ports (pipe thread size) it is probable you can match any Norgren valve used on your coach and can enjoy what appears to be remarkable savings.
If I get an opportunity I will attempt to get the correct Norgren part numbers that cross reference to both the Prevost and the proprietary Norgren number. I will post them on this thread if I am successful.
