Norgren Valve Problem Discovered – HOW BAD IS IT ???

While searching for aux air system leaks, I learned that Norgren valves are in-play AND I knew just which valve to check as I had discovered a leaky one previously while searching for the cause of a case of the leans which I resolved (but just had not yet had time to get back to the known leaky Norgren until today)

What I found is that one port of the valve is full of / clogged with white powder. I will obviously replace the valve, yet now wonder if this problem is systemic or isolated and how I should proceed.

ALL OTHER NORGRENS DO NOT LEAK & SEEM TO OPERATE PROPERLY.

This valve is located above the driver side tag on an H3 and has three 1/4″ air lines attached. I have been searching the Prevost Parts Manual to determine this particular valve’s function prior to posting, yet want to get this out there. Help / Guidance Appreciated!

    P. S. – I have owned this coach since May of 2019 and the engine air compressor desicant filter (Haldex) was changed out at that time and none of the Aux Air filters have indicated any water in them since my ownership.

This is a guess, but the white powder is aluminum corrosion (the equivalent of rust) indicating at one time there was a serious issue with moisture in the pneumatic system.

I would surmise all valves will exhibit the same problem.

Yes oxidized aluminum from moisture. Not good.

You live in Houston, the humidity capital of the world. And I know you’ve done some camping along the Gulf coast, again, the humidity capital of the world. You should be seeing water in your aux system water trap. This would be normal with a good working water trap. Maybe the aux system water trap isn’t trapping water?

Have you ever seen any water when draining the aux, ping, primary brake, secondary brake, or wet tanks ?

If your other Norgrens look even a little bit like that one, they should be changed.
