Nonsense rule at Tiger Run
Posted by Corey on August 23, 2015 at 2:58 pmWe are at Tiger Run with the 3 B’s and have encountered a rule with no logical explanation. Billy started to wash his bus and was told that it was not allowed. When questioned as to why Dazzling Detail was allowed to come in to wash, he was told because they bring their own water. Billy told them that he also brings his own water (the full tank on the bus) plus he has a RI system on the bus. No dice….sounds like an artificial monopoly to me. If there is some other reasoning behind such a rule, it was not offered by the resort. Maybe there is something that makes sense that I didn’t think of ? Geo.

Sorry guy….wrong heading….should be under Parking. Feel free to move it. Geo.

George, We can move it but this issue probably arises a lot at rallies because folks want to have their coach look nice and more often than not what was encountered with Dazzling Detail has happened often.
As a cynic I suspect there are two reasons. The first is Dazzling Detail or the washing company receommended by the campground likely kicks back some of the revenues they collect so it is the campground’s best interest to feed them as much work as possible.
The second reason is not all coach owners quietly go about washing a coach, but make it a big project that attracts attention from all other guests of the resort. It doesn’t take too many coach owners to be spraying water everywher with no regard to how much is wasted before the campground has everybody doing it, or their water and sewer bills skyrocketing. I am actually amazed at how much water is sprayed around just to wash the bus.
I wash my coach using a 5 gallon pail. No hose, and very little water running all around my site or in the street. I haven’t had anyone stop me yet, although I have been approached. As soon as it is seen my water is in the 5 gallon pail they just walk away and leave me alone.

That is exactly how he was doing it……rinsing the bus from his water tank and filling a 5 gal pail w/soapy water.and final rinse w/IR system.

I have owned at Tiger Run for 8 years and have never even heard a hint of wash kick backs. There is always a water shortage issue with strict limitations on using any campground water for washing vehicles. This is imposed on the resort by the water district that contracts the water. Dazzling has to bring in water. Some years it costs them more than others.

Whats an IR system? I have a DI system, have had RO and a Softener, just curious.

I had the same issue up there this summer. If you bring in your own water you replace it with their water so basically you are using water either way according to Tiger Run.
Dazzling did a fantastic job on our bus and it stayed spotless the entire time we were there.
My Dad has a house in Breckendridge and he has water usage issues for his yard/landscaping as I understand it.
Colorado water is more valuable than just about anywhere in the country. They need to come out to Oklahoma and borrow some of our water. We’ve had enough of it this year.
You can buy marijuana in Breckenridge but you can’t wash your bus. Go figure.

Apparently it comes down to what your priorities are. Going forward the priorities of those members who spend extended time in Colorado will be obvious to the rest of us.

Still makes no sense. Billy went down the road a mile and washed his bus, came back and eventually will probably add water from here to replace what he used. Dazzling brings in their own water but has to replace it also….they are not going to Montana to refill water. All the water in this area comes from somewhere here. BTW Truk, I meant DI…I’ll try to sharpen my editing skills. Geo.

If someone does too much of the “legal” stuff up there they won’t care how clean their bus is anyway.
Odd system at Tiger Run none the less. I should be looking at the mountains and not caring how clean my bus is even though it had about 10 pounds of Kansas bug guts on it.

We will be there on Saturday. I did not know about this, but was going to contact Dazzling Detailing anyway. I have always wondered if there was a kickback of some sort to the resort owners…..
I just printed a site map and it says “no vehicle washing” right on the map. I missed it the first time I looked at their web site.

Mark, we are here and will be until 9/2 in site #315. Would love to see you again along with your new bus. Last time we saw you was at Branson. Geo.

Geo..sounds good. I don’t have a site number yet, but will look you up when we get there.

Well, I just had a less than pleasant experience with “Dazzling Detailing” here at Tiger Run.
I had called last week for an appointment. The guy who answers the phone told me Sunday at 9:00 AM. So we got up and had everything ready. At 9:35 one guy shows up with the truck, but no help. He sat around until almost 10:15 before he started doing the wash. While he was working he told me that his boss had just called him and said he overslept and would be over. At 11:55 or so, the guy who was washing said he was done and would be back “in a little while” to get the waxing done, and wash the Jeep.
Fast forward to after 4:00 PM. No show, no call. So I call the number and get ahold of the guy who setup the appointment. He said they were not coming back until tomorrow because they didn’t have any jobs scheduled for Monday, and he gave the guy who actually showed up the rest of the day off.
I told him that was not acceptable, and he said too bad. We have been working for 18 days straight and I decided to take the rest of today off. He then said he was having trouble hearing me as he was driving up a mountain, and the call cut off.
I called him back and left a voice mail in which I told him not to come back, and that if he sent his helper over tomorrow I would pay him for what they had done, but we were not going to waste any more time waiting for them to finish, and since he was the one who set the date and time, it was not my problem he could not get up in the morning. About 5 minutes later he called back and told me to keep my money, they didn’t need it and to stuff it in my ass and go f*ck myself and hung up.
Needless to say, they are not on my Xmas card list any more. I informed the office here about it and they said they had some other people complain, but they are the only ones who will come here to wash. They had another guy, but he quit doing it about a year ago.
Interesting fact….they got their water from Tiger Runs spigot. He unhooked my hose and ran a hose to his filters in the truck, which feed his tank! So much for the bullshit about they bring their own water!!!!
I am not going to use this crew from Dazzling Detailing (out of Ft. Meyers, FL) for anything in the future. If enough people quit, maybe they will get a clue.

I knew something wasn’t exactly “Kosher” here with the whole wash deal. I’ll wash the bus when we get
to Grand Canyon Thurs. Mark, I was going to come tommorow to see your new bus…..but if it’s dirty…..I just don’t know. Geo.

No, it is very clean. The kid did it all before he left. Looks good.
