NON-EXEMPT LETTER FROM C.A.R.B.
I received a letter from CARB (California air resource board) which seems to state: heavy duty vehicles, including motorhomes are no longer exempt, and must be inspected annually as opposed to bi-annually like like light duty vehicles are.
Has anyone else in CA received this letter? What is your take on it? -

As a non resident, does anybody know how this going to effect traveling into your wonderful state? I try to avoid California, but i do go to the Prevost service centers are there.

Next thing you know California will mandate all goods to be transported by horse and buggy. Wait, can’t do that, to many horses farts admitted into the atmosphere.

Yeah yeah, everyone bags on California until they realize they’re just way out ahead of the pack, and in time the change will come to their state too. Do I agree with all of the states policies, hell no.
Gas used to have lead in it, and it seemed like a cheap and effective solution to anti-knock and engine wear. Er.. except that lead is toxic and…a fact that was know waay back in the1920’s.

Guess I should consider myself lucky. I cleaned parts (without gloves) in leaded gasoline for years and lived in houses with lead solder in the copper pipe joints.
Maybe I should consider that for any future diagnosis of issues.

At least all California does is stick a probe up the bus tailpipe and goose the throttle. Here in colorado, you relinquish control of your expensive specialized vehicle to an unknown dude, who then drives it away out of your hands. Then, its placed on a dyno with probes up the talpipe and computer plugged into diagnostic port and stressed under extreme “dyno” load while goosing throttle where drive tires almost stop rolling , looking for exhaust soot “opacity”. No NOX testing, no CO testing, just visible soot Then, depending on facility you are charged up to one hour labor rate. So, stop picking on California, other states are worse. Oh, and dont complain about taxes on license plates. California doesnt hold a candle to ours in colorado. Thank you to the dude called Douglas Bruce (not a lib)who created the Tabor Amendment. Off my soap box for now

It is not my position to comment on the “political” aspects this thread can get, but the topic is a serious bus issue and if it gets closed, how are bus people going to know of legislation and regulations that have a direct bearing on bus ownership.
If bus owners are ignorant of new laws or regulations how are they to address them with legislators or those who write regulations without knowing the cost and impact to owners whose buses were 100% compliant with all laws and regulations when they were built.
Limit the discussions but then do not complain when new regulation compliance makes bus ownership too costly to almost everyone.

Agree with Jon, it’s important to discuss these things without the political stuff.
