no power to the cigarette lighter on the dash
I lost power to my cigarette lighter on the dash. So far, I have checked the fuse which showed good, & I also checked the wires under the dash and they did not show any power. So now I am looking in the electrical panel on the drivers side the coach underneath the driver.I have identified a breaker that is 6 amp and is for the cigar lighter which I assume is the cigarette lighter I’m having a problem with.so my question is, how do I check the breaker to determine its status good or bad and is there anything special that I need to be concerned about when I work in this panel?
coach is a 1996 CC XL.

You can ohm it out to check for continuity, or measure voltage on each side. Either works. Each time just test it with it tripped and reset to verify you have continuity.

I am not to up on this electrical as I guess I have never had that kind of problem before. I did check the breaker. With it tripped there was nothing coming through. With it set as it should be, I had a complete circuit. I checked another and if that one is good (no reason to believe it is not) then I should have had the light come on the tester in both senarios. Is that accurate? Thanks again.

Recently my rear camera quit (Intech) and couldn’t find any fuse or breaker thrown. Went to looking behind controls (all coach lights and dash mounted goodies) and found a breaker panel (fuse panel) behind swing out drawer on drivers console beside seat. I have owned this coach for several years and still finding things. (kinda like easter eggs) Keep looking.

I’m not familiar with a light type tester, but if it is what I think it is, and it lights when you connect it to ground on one end and a positive source like a bus bar or the hot side of a CB and it lights that means there is power.
In the case of the cigar lighter, if it has no power at the lighter, then the next step is to keep moving back along the circuit until you find where there is power. That is easier said than done because trying to follow wires in a bus is a challenge. But if you found the breaker and it has power on both sides of it, but none at the lighter you have a break somewhere in the middle.
And Glen, my first coach had three house electric panels, all located behind drawers or otherwise out of sight inside the house portion of the coach instead of in a bay. As long as I knew where they were I was in good shape. I cannot imagine how difficult it is to chase problems and not know where all the fuse panels are.

Thanks for all the help. Funny things happen when you’re looking for a short somewhere. I could not find anything so I decided to put the passenger seat back in. Done with that, hooked up the wires for the power on the seat and what do know, the cigarette lighter starts working as soon as the wires are connected. Makes me feel kinda dumb but it was a learning exprerience I guess.
