Thanks Joe …..

I put 12volts to the fuel shutoff and it still shuts down. not sure why it shuts down. Now there are three wires on the connector.

Ok my bad …… The gen did run when I put direct 12volts it at the fuel shut off. Sorry for the bad information. Just fyi the three wires are …. the red should stay hot the white is an igniter and black is the ground.

A electric transferr pump can run but not produce enough pressure. requires min of 5-6lbs supply. Fwiw.. I’m careful not to diagonose to much over board just give you food for thought. Example : the oil pressure switch goes to ground when it says there is no oil pressure.

Hey I appreciate that Robert ….. I can get tunnel vision and not step back and reason sometimes. I check the oil pressure sendor with and without the wire and no change but also seen no change with the oil sendor and a continuity check. So going to replace sendor tomorrow and see what happens. I will let ya know the results. Thanks again guys for all the help !!!

Mark I think you have a problem with the generator part and not the engine. Like Joel said it you are not producing 120V the generator will shut down. Hold the button down and have someone check it your are getting 120v output. If it is a powertech give them a call, they helped me when I had this same problem. They had me check something on the back dealing with the regulator and mine failed and I got a new regulator. All is good now.

Thanks Greg I think y’all are right …. I’ve check the sendors and now have the engine running for about 10 seconds before it dies. It will crank right back up but dies again in 10 seconds. This is a Kohler 20KW. does anyone know where to down load a Parts and service manual for these and or a good contact to call ?

Are you sure the auto-start is not “on.” I had that happen once years ago, manually starting the gen only to have it shut off because the auto-start (inverter settings) saw full batteries and shut down. Just a thought…

Thanks Tom, Yes I could absolutely have the Gen or Inverters setup up wrong. I bought this bus a few months ago and still trying to make friends with it. On my Gen menu it has OFF AUTO ON EQ ….. I have it set on “ON” and on my Inverter menu it has OFF SRCH ON CHG …… I also have it set on “ON”. Is that where it should be set if trying to run off the Gen set ?

try setting the Gen Menu to. OFF. And I bet the generator will run. You can always set it back if it does not work.

Mark, it sounds like you have Trace inverters. Using the Green button, set the generator to “OFF”. I’ve never used my generator auto start, but I found out by accident yesterday that if you set the auto start to “ON” the generator will shut down after about 30 seconds if your batteries are already charged. Hope it works.

Hey thanks Andre and Bryan ….. I set the Gen menu on OFF AUTO and EQ and it will start but die immdiately after I let off the starter switch. When I have it on ON it will start and run for 10 seconds before dieng. So I want to think it is still in a setup in the Trace menu.

Ok …… I contacted Kohler today and they passed me on to Loftin Equipment Company Houston Texas (281) 310-6858. My first opinion of them is that they are the nuts !!! I called for Service and Parts manual for my Kohler 20kw generator Model 20EORZ and Merced in parts ask for my email !!! in 2 minutes and no cost I have a full service and parts manual. It has a great flowchart to follow and in 10 minutes I believe I have found out whats shuting my gen down. K4 relay which takes a replacement circut board. So I call back to Loftin and ask for parts and a very nice lady in parts answers …… as I was reading the number in the manual she finishes the number for me !!! she is a very seasoned parts assistance apparently 🙂 so I should have it by 10:00 in the morning and we will see. I will give you the results. Thanks again guys for all the help getting to this point !!!
