No Electrical Signal to Drivers A/C Compressor
Anyone experienced issues with not signal to the drivers A/C compressor? I also checked both the circuit breaker and relays….CB in front electrical compartment and relay in rear electrical junction box…put in new relays in both #34 and #36 still no signal to the compressor…at a loss. Also checked the dash switch but couldn’t get a reading, the switch has two wires green and black…checked both but no reading with multi-meter. At a loss…

low or hi pressure switch can cause this. Is there Freon in the system?

No none in the system. It wasn’t working when I purchased it last year and I’m at the point now with my repair list to get it working. I did replace the radiator last fall and took it to A/C repair facility to have it checked for freon and it was empty.

Jumper low press switch in rear. That will allow front unit to send +12VDC to compressor and freon.

Turns out the low pressure switch is bad, ordered another one from Prevost and will see if that is the only issue this weekend. If so should have dash air by Saturday, fingers crossed!

Okay replaced the bad switch and performed evac. Everything checked out no leaks and started the re-charge, but during re-charge after a couple of pounds the high pressure side stayed below 50 psi. Per the XL manual driver’s air takes 6 lbs freon. So after re-charge of 6 lbs the high pressure side still remained below 50 psi, but I did have cold air, not ice cool but it was cold. Upon research it sounds like it could be the compressor internal valve? The clutch was engaged and it did take suction of all the freon. Any A/C guru’s out there for some insight?

Try a different set of gauges

Could be a stuck/bad expansion valve.
or
if you have service valves at your compressor? make certain the high side is valve is open a little so your gauge will indicate correctly.

Yes the high side does have a service valve, will check it tomorrow.

Need to know what low side pressure is.If low side is close to high side could be bad compressor.50 psi should be low side pressure make sure what side you are checking

Don was right the high side valve was stuck closed. Once I got it open the high side was 220 and the low side was 55. Dash air has been working perfectly, ice cold..Thanks guys!!!
