  • no dash HVAC

Posted by Tom on April 26, 2017 at 12:16 pm

My dash mounted A/C seems to have died. It was running….turned off the coach at a stop…when I cranked it back up, the dash unit would not respond. It has been a little cranky about the buttons, but it always came around sooner or later. This time, regardless of attempts, there is nothing there….no lights…no life of any kind I can detect.

    I tried locating a fuse/breaker….the ones I found seem fine…not tripped.

Havn’t gone in behind the dash to see if there’s power back there…

    Any thoughts, anyone???

    99 Chassis…2000 Marathon H3-45….no OTR a/c

    Thanks….ty

I don’t know much about bus air, but when my car AC went out, it was the compressor unit that went bad. Do these buses have such a device to make them run?

No lights on the control unit at all? Or lights on however it does not respond to button pushes….No lights at all I would verify the connectors on the unit are all pluged in first..What history does it have when you said it has been a issue….

    Donny,

    It’s dash air not OTR.

    BTom,

Last year I had the exact same thing and thought I had to replace my entire dash unit.

However, I was at Marathon for a couple other things and they said that Marathon came out with an update, in coordination with Prevost, for the H-3 Dash Air unit (without OTR).

I’ve attached a picture of what they did, but basically they inserted a thermostat at the bottom of the dash panel (below my switches for my front shades). Before, there was just an air line in the back of the dash, but it wasn’t reading the temperatures correctly and it shut off the dash unit randomly.

After they installed that last April, I’ve not had any issues with the unit after that.

    Good luck!
