  • No 12 volt anywhere

Posted by Ron on July 12, 2018 at 9:33 am

Traveling north yesterday running 2 airs through the inverter and inverter loss light came on and lost all 12 volt. Arrived at campsite and plugged in. One inverter shows float other inverter shows bulk charge. Started up today, running no air and still no 12 volt, back up camera, house lights, etc. Any ideas? Heading through Alabama towards Knoxville, TN

I presume this is isolated to the 12 volts on the House side. Is the 12volt coach side OK?

Have checked the 12volt House master in the electrical bay? Flip it on and off a few times. There are a number of large 12 and 24 volt circuit breakers in that electrical bay. Makes sure there isn’t one that’s “tripped”. I’ve never had a tripped one, but have been told it’s hard to “feel” if one is tripped.

Ron, since yo list an Elegant Lady you have house batteries cabled together like the chassis batteries with them in series and parallel to provide both 12 and 24 volts. It is possible the Liberty installed equalizer has failed and that might be your issue.

In the electrical bay there are 3 vanner modules. One of them is not lit up. Is there any way to reset it.

this problem is on a 2001 Marathon.

Dd you check the 12volt disconnect solenoid? Do you have a switch by the entry door? If so it activates a 12 volt solenoid which puts power to coach, the AC’sneed 12v for the wall T stat

The only switches I see by the door on my Marathon is to lock/unlock the bay doors and turn the bay lights off/on.

I assumed it was on the Liberty, but when I re-read the post I see where it was mentioned the A/Cs were on inverter which ruled out a Liberty of the vintage in the signature line.

He’s looking for Marathon specifics boys, if you don’t have a Marathon chances are your stuff isn’t the same as his.

Leon is your best bet Ron, sorry I couldn’t help, but the dead equalizer is a starting point. You have 2 for the house and one for the chassis in the little passenger side rear compartment with the chassis batteries.

2 circuit boards in the house electric bay have 2 automotive fuses 2 and 4 amp. Of course almost all automotive fuses are odd number of amps. I didn’t want to chance a meltdown so I used 3 amps in both. The one requiring 4 amps blew immediately. I decided to take a chance so I put my last 3 amp in for the 2 amp and a 5 amp in for the 4 amp. It worked. Called Leon in Oregon and told him what I did and he said there would be no problem with the 1 amp increase to others fuses.

I spent about 5 hours on the phone with Leon and Dave at Marathon. They were a great help to say the least.

I’m back to smiling again. Thanks to everyone who responded with their suggestions.
