Newbie looking to buy Marathon #595
Hello All, I am looking to buy a pre-owned 1998 H series that was converted by Marathon #595. I am looking at this for my business as I would be vinyl wrapping the whole thing and we would use it as part of a technology roadshow we are conducting in the coming months. I will also use it with my family on weekends.
I am seeking any and all advice. The coach is somewhat of a hybrid personal coach/entertainer as it has 2 bunks but doesn’t have a washer/dryer. It appears in good condition but I have never owned a prevost and want to make sure I get a good coach realizing I am sure to be adding some $ to it.

If you do the necessary pre-purchase inspections, set aside money to bring all maintenance events current and get any needed training on the operation of the coach and its systems, it looks like it is going to work well for you.
Keep in mind that commercial vehicles which this will obviously become as soon as you put the wrap on it might require you to treat it and yourself or your driver as “commercial” meaning compliance with laws regarding operating and driving the vehicle. Some states are especially strict in enforcing the laws and in some cases have forced vehicles to be parked until the vehicle or driver met the requirements for commercial operation.

I am in Florida and was thinking of having Marathon in Florida do a pre-purchase inspection and then prevost doing one as well. I am open to other suggestions as well.

As part of the inspections make sure you know the maintenance status and ages of major components. Tires, batteries, air bags, brake chambers all age out and it is up to the owner and his tolerance level to determine what is an acceptable amount of time to run these components that all depend on rubber which over time presents problems due to age.
Similarly, there are important routine maintenance events required, such as coolant and transmission fluid changes, differential oil changes, belts, hoses, air dryer service, etc. They need to be current, and if there is no documentation relating to when these things were serviced you have to determine their condition and if they have been serviced as required.
In the past we have had some horror stories about the cost to repair damage done to pneumatic systems as a result of lack of servicing the coach air dryer and and periodically draining the air tanks which accumulate a lot of water due to lack of service. On a Marathon and its unique air system that can be isolated from the Prevost system problems can result from lack of service on that system. It is good Marathon and Prevost will be involved and they both should help you in verifying the condition of these areas of concern.

I don’t think this is Marathon Coach # 595.
Our coach is #592 and our VIN # is X6738.
Our coach is a 1999 Prevost and a 2000 Marathon.
This coach’s VIN # is 2PCV33493X1012729 – so X2729, which would be earlier than 595.
