New to us 96 Liberty 40′ Classic
We have put a deposit on a: 96 Liberty 40′ Classic, DD 60, Allison 4000 6sp, OTR air, 3 Cruise Airs, 80k btu webasco, new tires, all new batts, new refig/frzr, etc. Purchasing it from Ken at Parliment. It can be seen at rvtrader or Prevost-Stuff.
This is our first Prevost, but our 6th diesel pusher. It was a hard sell convincing my wife to go older and slideoutless.
We needed a 40ft because we will mainly be using it to pull our 29′ long drag race car trailer. Now we’re under the 70′ limit.
We’ve been lurking here for about a yr.

Congratulations. You are going to enjoy the coach. A Prevost is going to drive and handle so much better than a conventional motor home.

You are about to find out there is NO comparison between a Prevost and Plastic…

We decided on our H3-40 for the same reason.
We are legal in length, have great manuverability and extra oomph since the coach is lighter than those 45 footers.
Your best move was to select a Liberty

Welcome , we have a forty foot without slides and love it. These things are a huge change from fiberglass coaches. Love the Lonestar reference. Enjoy !

Welcome to the group. We, too, have a 40 footer. We also reversed coach age from a 2001 XLV 2 slide,to a 2002 XLII 45 single slide, then 2000 H3-45 no slide and now slide free,1992 XL 40 (8V’s rock) Saw your coach on line, lovely.

We looked at that coach if it is the black one. It is a real nice coach and we almost bought it ourselves. Ken seems to be a straight up guy, he called and said they had taken a deposit, we deliberated a little too long.
We too have a 40′ for the same reasons and we love it. That is why we were looking for another. Thought we would move up a few years.
I think you will be very happy with that coach, by all the info we looked at it was well cared for.

Welcome. Lots of pluses with a 40 and I don’t know where you are, but 70′ is not legal in California…not sure about all states.
I’ve towed about 300,000 miles all over. Nobody seems to care except Ca….been ticketed once there @ 69.5′ and warned once @ 74.5′.
Enjoy……….PS Oh yeah, I see Texas. If you have to go to Ca, the worst place is I-10 near Indio.

When they ticketed you in California did they make you drop the trailer or allow you to continue pulling? How large was the fine? I am thinking about pulling my trailer to California this fall.

seems a good number of people looked at that coach. My wife and I looked at that one a couple months ago. Very nice coach indeed. If we were not looking for a 45, it would have been a much more serious look.
We didn’t know much about Liberty Coaches then, but with some coaching from Tom and a lot of studying seems one can’t go wrong with a liberty. We love ours and its only been with us for just under a month.

Davy: First time was several years ago on I-10 near Indio, an area I’d heard was bad. I was returning to Az (home state) and was ticketed about $120. for 69.5′.
Second time was in Central Ca on 101; warning only at 74.5′.
Our race team was stopped on the Grapevine (I-5 north of LA) and warned only.
Broke a trailer axle on I-80 near Truckee and was on the side of the Interstate for about 8 hours. At least 3 CHP stopped to see if I needed assistance and not one mentioned I was at 74.5′. I regularly tow in Ca but….
