We truly appreciate the new pricing review before work is performed. We like knowing costs before work started

For going on twenty years, during our service appointments we have stayed in the bus whether sitting on ground or in the air. (With exception Goodlettesville 2015) we had to be out of coach.

For the appointment which recently we had to cancel due travel restrictions, we cancelled our Mira Loma visit

On making Mira Loma appoint back in February, due to front end work being done (a-arms) when bus is in air, we were told new policy that we had to be out of bus. As i started this question, we were allowed to stay in the bus while on lift we understand the risk not an issue

Question, with new distancing restrictions and customer lounge dimensions not conducive to being 6 foot social restrictive between a lot of customers, is Prevost allowing owners to stay once again in their coaches regardless of coach position

My guess would be that NO is the answer. No one should ever be in their coach when it’s in the air. I have been allowed up the utility ladder to grab something I left behind but I would never consider asking Prevost to let me live in the coach while in the air. Prevost’s liability would have to be off the charts!

Was at Prevost Winter Garden last week. They WILL NOT let you stay in the coach anytime it’s IN the shop.

I am sure rules change over time and that different locations may have different rules.

Many times over the years at various Prevost service centers people have been in the coach when it was up in the air. From a safety perspective the risk is someone in the coach deciding to step out of the coach and falling. If the concern is that the coach could drop then there is a more serious concern, and that is if the service center thought the risk might be the coach dropping, then the greater potential for injury or death is the technician working under the coach.

If I was the guy spinning wrenches and was told nobody could remain in a coach when it was up in the air because they could get hurt if it fell, I wouldn’t get under the coach unless the lift was 100% safe.

As far as someone remaining inside the coach when it is not in the air I cannot see a problem with that.

Jon, youre correct. Prevost Mira Loma told us, as long as bus was on the ground, we could be in it. But, once in air, for such repair of A-Arm replacement, we needed to be out. Last October, we were in the air, and a rolling ladder step, was placed at door for going out to oee the dogs.

My question now, with social distancing how prevost is going to accommodate customers in lounge when room is so small. RVers travel with their pets, and if multiple owners are in the customer lounge, how does one be separated by six feet inside a room

Personally I cannot think of a safer place than in the coach. Not only is the risk to others reduced or diminished, but I am safer because nobody can get in my space without an invitation.

A lot of rules and decisions are made without a lot of thought.

In the coach while lifted may be safe for occupants, but absolutely would not want to be that mechanic underneath. His safety is at risk if an occupant was to switch on aquahot, start or cause generator to start, accidently hit dump valve, etc.

Prevost should never allow this, nor any other garage because we all know people !

Steve: I think that’s pretty heavy handed.

ETLC permits us in the coach, in the shop, on the ground, up in the air, doesn’t matter. Jeff also lets us walk around the shop and watch the techs, ask questions. (Note that not every tech in the world appreciates someone looking over their shoulder and asking questions. I respect that, and respect them. I usually ask first.)

Prevost Jacksonville had the same policy in 2015 and Prevost Houston in 2019.

I did hear or read an unsubstantiated rumor that an owner might have walked out of a raised up coach while in the air at a Prevost shop. Unconfirmed.

The shop in Kerrville TX that did the radiator fix wouldn’t let us on the shop floor even to walk to coach to get something, they escorted us. I couldn’t watch the tech work. We couldn’t stay overnight in the coach. I didn’t like that, but it’s their business and not mine, they were the only show in town. So I had to accept that.

No Dick in NOV of 19 I posted a guy did a full gainer out of a bus in Nashville.

Ever since then staying in a raised bus is a no no.

You must feel lucky letting someone work on your bus and not being able to look in occasionally.

Last month I had two days of work at Jacksonville and they would not allow you to walk in shop. They asked me to go to lounge when I was walking into shop to view the work on coach.

I am sure this is some of the reaction of obtrusive people wandering into the service bays and interrupting the technicians doing their work.

I will suggest there are Prevost owners who are not savvy in the service center and cause the Prevost community to be restricted from some of freedom we enjoyed in the past.

The policy of keeping owners from the shop and from viewing work being done was the very reason I stopped having Prevost do the work on my coach and began doing 100% of my own work.

Maybe my attitude was all wrong, but I never set out to do work on my coach, but I did want to know my coach and what it took to maintain and repair it. When I was denied that opportunity I stopped letting Prevost work on my coach.

Dick , I agree that watching to a point should be allowed, but nobody in that bus would still be my rule.

If you’re not in the bus and you cant he be near the shop, then how much time will ge wasted while the tech hunts you down with a question. And besides, preventing owner from bring in the shop, aren’t others curious what the underside of their bus looks like?
