  • New prevost coach owner few issues

Posted by Matthew on January 14, 2016 at 9:37 pm

I have just acquired a prevost country coach from a family member

    It is a 98 model xl45

it has sat in a warehouse most of its life so with that said it has some issues and I have the manuals but I think I’m missing something . It cranks and drives fine but nothing in the coach works except speedo tach few gauges headlights marker lights that’s all I can’t get nothing else to come on no lights receptacles

we replaced the house batteries still nothing

crank generator and the gauges above the door work telling you that it’s on and doing what it’s suppose to but still no power

am I missing a switch somewhere

there’s two switches above the chassis batteries 12 v and 24 volt are those the only two on there

since this is the first motor coach we have ever had I’m in the dark

I live in northeast Georgia if anyone knows of anyone close to me that could tell me or check it out please let me know

I’m in Gainesville Georgia to be exact

    thanks in advance

It is almost impossible to help without knowing more about the coach converter. From the sounds it would appear none of the power from the house batteries is getting to any of the DC circuits or inverters.

What happens on shore power or generator power.

On my 99 CC there are two circuit breaker boxes in the 2nd bay passenger side that control all the outlets and the refrigirator and a few other things.

In the bedroom when I walk in an shut the sliding door down low and to the left there is another panel that controls all the other stuff, A/C units, stove, microwave and other items.

My coach is a 40 foot so I don’t know if the layout on the 45s are the same.

Above the windshield passanger side there is a pushbutton switch labeled Main Battery Disconnect ( or something like that) make sure it is lighted green if not all your house stuff will not work. This powers the mother board down in the first bay. If yours is like mine. Push the switch if it is not eluminated.

My answer is probably waaay too simple, but as you enter the bus on the main switch panel by your head, are you pushing the domestic battery disconect switch? It’s one switch covered by a plastic cover. Again, too simple, but you never know.

Edit: I see Buddy types faster than I can!

    Matt,

My coach is 8 years older then yours. Having said that, mine has a toggle switch, last toggle switch on left end of bottom row of toggles. If you don’t toggle that switch “ON” no lights, no recepticals, no TV, no microwave, no radio, no nothing. The bus will start and run normally. So take a look and see what hapens if you “toggle Suzie ON.”.

Buddy & Dan have given some good places to startlooking. On our coach (45 ft) the breaker boxes Buddy mentions are in the 3rd bay, curb side, adjacent to the power transfer switch. Our batteries & inverters are located in the 4th bay, curb side. You also should have the inside main breaker box Buddy mentions, curb side behind the sliding/pocket bedroom door, midway up the wall.

You may also have some ground fault outlets that have tripped if everything else checks okay – we have one on each side of the bed, one for the outlets on each side of the coach, plus one in the basement. If they’re tripped, we get nothing on that side of the coach.

We also have a set of AC power meters that are turned on with an overhead button switch over the steering wheel. Once the meters are on you can monitor the line voltage & amp draw on each leg – our setup has the meters right next to the gen oil press & coolant temp. If you start your genset, and after a 30-45 sec wait see no voltage on your meters, check the breaker(s) on the genset itself.

Are you sure your inverters are turned on?

    Good luck…
