New (Old) Prevost, multiple water problems
Hello all! We recently (yesterday) purchased a 93 Prevost Country Coach XL, and while we’re in love with it, we’ve run into a couple of water problems that maybe someone here can help me with. When trying to fill the fresh water tank, through the ‘Fresh Water Inlet’ port, the water seemingly flows straight into the black water tank. Secondly, we went down the road a bit to another campsite, and hooked up to city water only to have water start pouring out a hose coming from the underside near the rear passenger side. My dad and I are planning on tearing into it tonight, but if someone could help us figure out what we’re looking for, it’d be much appreciated.

You have a great coach. We have an ’88 CC conversion (and you call yourself old!). The problem is that they changed things from time to time and it might be difficult for someone other than a similar year coach owner to figure out your situation.
There is no way for incoming fresh water to go to grey or black tanks. However, there is a tank FLUSH connection where a hose connects and helps to clean out the black tank. This is NOT your fresh water fill connection. The fresh water fill should run through 1 or 2 filters and there is likely a lever or 2 that controls whether the water goes to the holding tank or is used as a direct city water connection. If you are able to get some pics of the valves, filters, connections in the water bay we might be able to get you much more information.

Thank you so much for the quick reply, that makes a lot of sense, so that’s one problem down. We’re out to eat right now but as soon as we get back I’ll upload some pictures once we get everything out in the open. I forgot to mention, the fresh water tank isn’t filling ( I think) because when we open the fresh water drain, nothing comes out, though water does come out when city water is coming in. Also the pump isn’t pulling out any water, though I’m trying not to run it any more than testing because I don’t want to run it while it’s dry.

Pictures are a great idea to help everyone help with your problem. CC’s can operate perfectly without the pump on if you are hooked up to city water as I think you described you coach is operating. So you are fully functional in a CC even with a bad pump if you have a water hookup.You did the right thing with the pump. Do not run it dry. If the fresh water tank is not holding water your fresh water drain valve may be open. My coach has a valve switch over the drivers chair and a second in the water bay. Make sure the valve is closed. If the drain valve is open, the tank should be drained by the time you return from dinner. If you have city water hooked up look for a tank fill switch. Again mine are over the driver’s seat and in the water bay. With the city water flowing turn on the tank fill valve. The tank should fill. If the drain is open water will begin pouring out again and you have the culprit. Good luck.
