New Male 50 amp plug for Liberty
Our 50 amp male plug bit the dust this past week. I tried to replace it, but even with shaving/cutting, it won’t fit the round Marinco hole on our ’97 Liberty. Is there a suitable replacement head available anywhere? If not, I have no problem replacing the entire cord, since it is 20 years old. Anybody know where to buy either the entire cord/male plug assembly, or just a male plug that will fit?

I had to replace mine too.
I just cut the pull handle part off of the basic yellow replacement end and it fits just fine.

I bought my replacement plug from ebay $140 but you have the reduce the pronges by about an 1/8 inch in order to fit to fit the Liberty tube.

Arcon 19186 cul listed replacement 50 amp power plug on Amazon $22.95 and it fits nicely with minimal trimming of the electrodes to fit in the portal.

Ebay has them for 14.99… free shipping… they are good solid plugs but you do have to shave off a little to make it fit right but it’s that way with all of them… very easy to do.

What some folks are doing, Liberty included, is use the marine twist lock plug on the shor cord and make a pigtail with the marine plug to the 50 am plug we use. Works well and fits the hole.
This does not require and modification the the 450 amp plug. Shortening the tangs on the plug reduces the contact area.
Another thing a few have done is increase the hole with a larger bulkhead fitting

The Plug that I recommended does need to be filed down slightly to fit in the Marinco outlet on Liberty Coaches. I was informed at the time that we did ours along with 6 others for other Liberty owners, that the contact would be perfect and it has been without any loss of power and it fits in the hole perfectly…These are the same ones that Jeff Rowe uses. We have used ours with no problems at all for over 2 years. I gave 4 of them away to other folks who needed them as well at that time all with no complaints that I am aware of.
We always use a surge protector to plug into shorepower.

Does a Marathon have the same Marinco Receptacle with the screw on cap on the outside of the coach that Liberty has? Because I purchased the RV14-50P and it was too big also needed to be filed down but that was 3 years ago. I bought asbout 4 different ones before Liberty told me that none of them fit and that even smallest ones had to be filed down.

I have noticed that some Liberty’s have the ‘screw-on-cap’ for the shore cord.
Ours releases from the bottom of the coach so some Liberty’s are different.
I’m not sure if our plug is a different size than yours.
I did have to replace one on the Dynasty as I wanted one with a handle.
I have no problem with the Liberty plug, we do have a super long cord (75 ft.) which is nice.
Looking forward to seeing you and Larry at the next ‘no rally rally’. :o)
