  • New Interstate highway I-49

Posted by AL on September 3, 2012 at 6:37 pm

The long awaited I-49 starting in KC is set to be soon a pretty blue line on all your Rand McNally, GPS. The finishing touches are going on in the home stretch which was formally known as Missouri Highway 71 before KC to AK border.

As this I-49 gets closer and will be a completed Interstate KC to New Orleans is the plan.

Most of the road is 4 lane now with small portions and some very expensive parts yet to be finished mainly in AK. I drove most of the new Interstate going to New Orleans Prevost Proud’s rally last month and it is smooth as a babies ….. One thing I noticed was the newly poured concrete has been level cut removing most of the porpoise ride.

    1200…. I-49 signs cost $ 3.5 million when completed.

Hey, you gotta have signs, how would you know where to go if your wife was not with you?

They just built a new interchange in Okie City at I-40 and Morgan Road, the total cost of this ONE project was $33 million dollars. Money is no object when it comes to the folks in D.C. Is this the four lane just east of Joplin that goes thru Nevada? (that should confuse ’em pretty good Al)

    This the one?
