I don’t even come close to understanding the SSN aspect of this program? Fuel cost comes directly from our account, it’s not a credit card. Heck I don’t even like giving my SSN to my bank!
Nope… No SSN from me! But no worries, we can use Bill’s information now! What a huge breach of confidence!!!

We had 2 manual breaches (not hacked). We have contacted both of those people, purchased them a rapid identity theft breach policy to protect them for the next year. Both of them are satisfied with the response we had concerning the breach. Billy and his wife were amazing at working through this with us. We have offered to cover any costs for them changing banks as well. However, because of these breach we have changed our procedures here. No confidential information will be accepted or shared by email in the future. We are working with a gentleman from the provost community to put into place a new system with tighter security for accepting applications. We cannot tell you how badly we feel that this happened and hope that you will understand that we are working to make sure this never happens again. If you would like to talk further Joy or I would be happy to talk to you personally. We have been truly humbled by the community’s understanding of this situation and everyone willingness to work with us.Thank you Gina

Clearly and error has been made and from everything I can see, including emails with the folks at TSD they are on top of the problem, reacted quickly and in a responsible manner, and will have a far more secure way of protecting information.
I cannot speak for Tom on this issue, but I am very confident based on how they have dealt with this problem we will not have any breaches of security.

Leeper6, maybe you could explain the need of SSN number? After again going over the forms I cannot see a single reason for the SSN!

Harry normally I never put my SSN on anything. Always leave it blank and 90 plus percent of the time never matters. I did think about it – and like you didn’t see or understand the need for it – but due to having a multitude of things to do today, I foolishly listed it anyway only hoping to avoid anymore information gathering being required. I had the forms printed a few days ago and hadn’t taken time to send, so was trying to be as efficient as possible.
Yes, it is a hassle – spent 4 hours at my local branch closing the account I’d had since ‘83 and opening/transferring to a new one at the bank’s request/recommendation. Probably take a few hours a day for a week or so to change all the direct deposit and debit information.
But in the end, it was an accident – nothing more than a mistake (albeit a potentially serious hassle) – and I’ve certainly made plenty of those myself before. Joy with TSD was calling me immediately to let me know what happened, and what they were doing for damage control.
Bottom line nobody died, got injured etc. I can deal with some accounting and paperwork hassle. May as well smile and go on down the road. I do appreciate those who called and emailed immediately to let me know what they received.

Harry, When you purchase fuel at Loves with an EFS card, the issuing. Company, TSD, is on the hook to Loves, not you. So TSD, who does not credit check you, needs a way to determine which Harry to look for if you do not pay up. SSN is the link.
If everyone always paid up, this would be a non-issue.
Hope this helps.

Hi Rudy, I understand that you are temporarily on the hook for initial fuel purchase because your card is used for payment instead of our physical debit/credit card. And I further understand you would want protection against non payment. Here is what your web sight says.
TSD Logistics offers diversified transportation services throughout North America, including dry bulk, over-the-road freight shipments, specialized logistics services and more. Our success has been driven by a commitment to our core values and long-term partnerships with our customers and suppliers.
I don’t see how TSD, not being a Lending institutions, has any advantage in having our SSN. You guys are offering us a program to save in fuel costs and I appreciate that. But for me my SSN is a bridge too far.
If you ever offer a service where we enter your card first to qualify for the discount (like Good Sam and many others) and then our own debit/credit card is inserted I’d be happy to be part of your program.

Everyone
We have added a new link to apply for the fuel card and new process to help protect everyone security and privacy. I will be getting with Jon to get this updated on the web sight. Please know we only have your best interest in mind. We look forward to doing business with you and again hate for any issues or time it has caused anyone.
Thanks

Jon and Tom,
I just spoke with Gina about the new link for the fuel card, to ask where we were to say we were associated with Prevost Community. She said that she will fix that and send you the new link. Not trying to get into your business, but I had read that we were supposed to write in that we were affiliated with the Community.

Thanks Mark.
When this was originally set up TSD had a provision that paid a bonus to people referring the program, but we don’t need that. Tom gets all the dues money, and I have learned to live without money so except for brownie points PC has no direct benefit, but it does demonstrate participation. Thanks.

Damn, 500 for a referral, how did I miss that. I would then give Jon 50% of the dues money.
