tires are not easy to find, as soon as some come in they are sold then the dealers are back in line waiting on them again

I hope not, was just in tire shop Friday, placed order for 8 315s. He is supposed to place his order tomorrow.
Just bought the Vantare and tires are dangerously old, original tires on 2000 with 50,000 miles but 15 yrs old. I have not moved it yet, wanting to wait on tires, take straight to tire shop, about 50 miles from where it is sitting. Tires have very little checking considering age, but apprehensive about the 50 mile drive. -
Make sure you are using the Michelin Advantage program from Prevost Community. It will save you at Least $2400 on 8 tires.

So I have a call into Action Tire down here in Atlanta for 6 315’s. THey are going to place the order Monday. I guess at that point I will see if they can get them so I can get them mounted by the end of the week.
But if not, the question at this point becomes what is the best alternative to Michelin’s? Firestone, Toyo, Goodyear? Anything else? Obviously price is important, but ride quality and structure quality is more important.
I really can’t “wait” for Michelin to get over their “backorder” that has been going on since February when I first started asking around about tires. I have a trip that we are wanting to do that I really dont want to do and take the chance of tires that are date coded 09 and are pretty much unknows to me.

I think you’ll find that even if an order is in, you’ll be hard pressed to get tires. I just went through the same thing last month and Michelin was not offering any help, with national back order 6 – 8 weeks. I just got lucky calling around and found 4 fresh ones in Knoxville. Jumped in the pickup and was there the next morning to snag the tires.
Charles, I was ready to purchase something other than Michelin and was going to get Ricks suggestion.

What is the procedure to use the PC Michelin Advantage?
Is it the same as the FMCA option?

Dick, I will let you know about the 50 mile trek, but from the above discussions, there might not be any Michelins available, guess I’ll have to start looking for another brand. I did go to the bus today (hour away) and moved it from soft ground to hard ground, 200′, supposed to rain again Tuesday here, wanted to make sure I could get it onto the highway.

Just go to the blue Michelin Discount button on top of the forum and follow the instructions. It was very easy, I just did it last month and worked great.

What’s the fear of using another brand of tires? I found that Michelins had early side wall cracking. I have used Toyo’s and find them a good tire.

Thank you Greg! We aren’t married to Michelins either. Even with the Advantage Program, the XZAS are still higher than other tire brands full retail.
The fact that our tires age out, before the tread disappears, makes one think how we spend our money. The attitude of poo-pooing other proven tires over Michelin, I feel is misguided. Apparently, the shortage of XZAS Michelin has created, is causing customer grief. I believe they should be very careful in this market contriving such a back log.
Firestone FS 400, 315/80/22.5 Load Range L, has the same load cap of 9090 lbs as XZAs. FS 400 will be our next pair of steers.

Prevost has “tuned” the suspension for Michelin tires. (Their words)
I used Double Coin (Chinese) tires on my previous coach and was very happy with them. They were 1/2 the price of Michelin tires at the time. Turns out the company was owned in part by Michelin.

Over the years there have been postings on other brands, commenting on, compared to Michellin, tire/road noise, tire wear, speed rating, weight rating, most were negative.
I have used the Double Coin on the drives and found them satisfactory, they are a much heavier tire than Micellin.
