I just got a quote from Miller Insurance Agency and the Insurance Company that they used for the quote was Allied Insurance who is a Nationwide Insuance Company subsidiary.

What Bill said. Mine is with Victoria or Titan (they use each name interchangeably which confuses me) but my insurer is owned by Nationwide, through Miller.

Got couple quotes, Nationwide and Allied, 2nd better with 50 USD, both look credible….

Check with Explorer Insurance, agent for National Interstate, they have been the go to company for Prevosts for many years and we have members with claim experiences. Explorer. My policy, already reasonable, went down 3000 this year and it’s on stated value.

Whoever you choose, do your homework, a claim involving a Prevost will become a nightmare when the adjuster shows up with his vast experience in Winnebagos and the insurance company phone rep can’t pronounce Prevost. Remember, they’re accustom to a 4000 bumper replacement, not 40000 of stainless. Not to mention the repair shop they authorize, you know, the one with the Pawn Shop out front and paint shop in the rear.

I was insured by National Interstate through Explorer at the time of a bus fire. They were specialists in bus conversions. They knew how to pronounce Prevost and they knew the coach had to be repaired by people who not only knew the Prevost chassis, but who had a relationship with the converters so the needed repairs to the house could be made.

I have reported often the service and the results could not have been better.

Just once I would like someone who is insured by an insurance company whose principle vehicles are cars or conventional motor homes to report their experience with extensive repairs. I am sure some who have been insured by such companies did not get the level of service I got, the understanding the coach needed to be at the nearest Prevost shop and not the nearest Camping World, and the willingness to pay the costs to do a proper repair.

On the phone will Allied inquiring about bus insurance…person does have any idea what a Prevost is, they asked if it is a mobile home or an RV that you drive down the road…??? This is scary….

DT, this is what I have been trying to tell folks that think that cheap insurance from a car or conventional RV insurance company is just what they need. If the person on the line does not know what a Prevost is, or a bus conversion, wait until you have a legitimate claim and you have to convince the insurance company the local RV place is not where you need to go for repairs.

Put on your big boy pants and talk to insurance companies that know what they are insuring. You will not regret it.

Seeing this thread, and since my policy is up for renewal soon, I just got a quote from Explorer. It is 50% of what I have been paying Progressive for identical coverages. I was going to change to a more bus-specific agent anyway, but saving 50% on top is pretty sweet! Note that the quote is for Triumphe Casualty Insurance, not National Union.

I hope I never again have to deal with an insurance company, but when I did deal with National Interstate that I had through Explorer it was very easy due to the fact they knew from the first call that they were insuring a bus and the repairs had to be made by bus experts. No debate, no hesitation, and the end result was the coach was completely and properly repaired.
