    My NAPA card expires 12/31/2019.

Got to Florida and had a burned out headlight and a few dead tail lights. Found a NAPA store in New Tampa. The counter guy said “Wow! That’s a really great card. Discount on the lights is huge.”

Thanks Tom, Jon, and whoever else was involved in negotiating that deal.

We all have Boater Al to thank for the NAPA discount card program. And for those who do not know, Big Al aka Boater Al has been a strong supporter of PC from the beginning and he was instrumental in helping kick start this site once we got on line in December of 2011.

    Thanks Al.

Any time I need to do a service on the coach or my cars I use the discount card.

I just did a full service on the generator today in anticipation of using it at the Lakeland A&CC later in February. I changed the air filter, belt, oil filter, and two fuel filters. They would have cost a little over $100, but with the discount were $51, which is a really great savings. Perhaps the best part of the purchase of parts was my local NAPA store has now set up their computers so the use of the card is as easy as any other transaction. The counter guy was so happy he had to mention how easy it is for them now when we present the card.

The air filter for my generator would have cost a little over $50, but with the card its cost was $20 as an example. If you buy parts don’t hesitate to apply for the card because the savings can offset your dues for next year.

Tried to use my card at a NAPA in Ft. Lauderdale. The counter man, fresh out of the School For Arrogance and Condescension” declined the card and said it was only good a NAPA service centers. Very discouraging.

    Kirby,

I had trouble using my card at the NAPA in Titusville, FL. The counter guy wouldn’t even look at it. Every time I went in I would try to use a different counter guy. Finally I got one counter person to try it and it worked. After that if they said it would not work, I would just remind them that it did, and just please try again. After a while they just accepted the fact that I knew it worked and now I use it all the time.

Show them the back of the card and ask them to follow the instructions. They will be surprised when it works.

Not all NAPA stores will accept the card, but those are not very common. As Andre pointed out the reverse side of the card has the instructions for how the counterman can make it work.

For a while when I was saddled with NAPA guys that wouldn’t try I just left everything on the counter and went to Truck Pro, got my stuff, and showed the card asking for them to meet the NAPA fleet price. They did. When subsequent NAPA visits had similar results I pointed out I will go to Truck Pro if they don’t try. They got one of the guys who worked with the card previously to help and were amazed it worked. Now the guy who knew how to work the card is a happy camper because it is now set up in their computer and no more hassles. The store I go to is NAPA owned.

If the store you go to participates, but the counterman is not familiar with the program be assertive. NAPA’s competitors will match the pricing or beat it and you may have to point that out.

Maybe Big Al can comment further.

I’am going crazy reading how some NAPA stores treat customers. NAPA card was put together to encourage heavy duty truck owners to shop NAPA.

When I approached NAPA at Atlanta headquarters on a conference call I remember there was total agreement PC members owned heavy duty buses. NAPA poured a lot of money into this program, with that store owners are supported on each store reported on end of month computer reporting back to NAPA headquarters. Some store owners opposed the program as they fail to meet min requirements to have percentage support. I know the numbers min $ requirements are pretty low.

Some independent store owners oppose this program because discounts are large on certain lines.

Thanks, everyone for putting up with uninformed NAPA employees about use of your NAPA card. The NAPA card is a national program …..Some store employees never get it and should not be working at an auto parts store.

Carry the NAPA , hand it to the counter person the instructions are clear.

Note new card members….Use “Prevost Community” in company name box

I have had 2 NAPA store counter personnel refuse the card and I just ask for the store manager. I would hand the card to the manager and advise them that their counter person is not sure how to input the information on the back of the card. In both cases, the manager punched all the right buttons on the register and the job was done. Just stand your ground.

My local store is independent and he is willing to use the card but the price it gives him on filters has been more than what he will sell them to me without the card. Go figure.

    Tom,

You and all other card carring NAPA- AITA PC members are usually getting a very competitive price on most items purchased with the NAPA-AITA card. Line code for all filters is “FIL” so any filter purchased under this code and under the NAPA-AITA program is a rebate-able though this national program levels. This gives the NAPA dealer cash credits when he reaches dollar sales levels. Your dealer has made the decision to not be involved in this national program.

IMHO he has made a mistake in handling your purchase this way. And here is the BUT…You must be a good customer and he wants you to buy from him. As a regular customer he believes he’ll make more sales thus continuing your relationship with his NAPA store.

I wonder what Doug ended up doing with his chassis batteries. Did he really “kill them”? Were they were old, timed out, and needed to be replaced? Or were his existing chassis batteries “ok” and just needed to be charged?

    Inquiring mind want to know.

    Dick,

I took your advice and moved over to the electrical forum. It went nowhere. Bottom line is I replaced the chassis batteries with the one Al suggested. One of my old ones would not keep a charge and they were 6 years old so overdue for replacement. All working now. Thanks for all the input!

You didn’t kill them … one passed away from old age … and others were about to. Glad to hear it wasn’t something else.
