My Recent NCTS Tire Purchase
Last week I took advantage of one our many PC perks that Jon & Tom have so graciously put together for us. I bought tires(fronts) via the National Concierge Tire Services Michelin, BFGoodrich, & Uniroyal tire discount program. Here’s the link:
My 8 Michelins only have 20k miles. They aren’t giving me any problems, but they are 6+ yrs old. I decided I would buy and have installed & balanced 2 new steer axle tires. I’ll replace the drive & tag axles sometime in the future.
I choose the BFG ST230 315/80/R22.5 LRL part# 55458. They are approved for both 8.25″ & 9.0″ wide wheels. My bus has six 9″ wide aluminum rims and two 8.25″ wide steel rims on the inner duals.
Here’s the ST230 product sheet link:Going with the BFG verses the lower cost Michelin saved us about $110+ per tire. The BFG ST230 each cost $614 out the door mounted and balanced ($498 + $53 FET + $8/valve stem + $55 for mounting and balancing) from a local dealer of my choice. I choose Beasley Tire San Antonio. Its new, clean, and easy in and out. They charge $55/tire for mounting and balancing. If you don’t pay for the mounting and balancing directly, Michelin will charge you $74/tire. Work your best deal with your favorite tire service company. I worked with Adam @ Beasley Tire. They were fast and friendly.
We did a 500 mile trip this weekend and didn’t notice any change in ride quality from the Michelins.

After you pay Wendy the $90 welcome fee, she’ll send you membership and warranty docs. She’ll also send you current price PDFs for Michelin & BFG HDtruck tires, and for Michelin, BFG, & Uniroyal light truck/suv/pass tires. The Michelin, BFG, & Uniroyal tire dealers don’t know the price we are paying unless you tell them. Tom Ward can also tell you the price of a tire.
When I was buying the ST230s, Adam the saleman @ Beasley asked what my cost was. When I told him, he was impressed. He said our price was lower than what Beasley pays for them.
Also, the DOT date codes were 11/19, nice and fresh 🙂

BFG is a Michelin company. Manufactured with the same equipment that is in a Michelin branded plant. I have been in everyone and of them as a Michelin IT Director. You cannot go wrong with the quality.
For my purposes, my tires will age out well before they will miles out.

Don’t forget, all tire from NTCS have road hazard too.

Used the Dupree discount program ,which is free, last year for a replacement tag. how does this new program differ ?

The BFG 315/80-22.5 L-rated ST230 cost about $125 less each than the Michelin equivilent. I believe the BFGs will suit our needs as well as the Michelin but for less $$$

Thanks Tom. Have my second poor quality Michelin experience with tag 365. Three inch chunk of tread off side wall tread 14/32 tread depth on side wall, 15/32 in middle. Very few miles on this one as well. Taking to dealer next week for adjustment. Never had this problem with 315’s and many more thousands of miles on them. Like buying newer cars. Poorer quality 👎

BFG is a Michelin company using Michelin the same manufacturing equipment as Michelin plants. As an IT Director for Michelin North America I had been in every North America Plant between 2005 and 2008. You cannot go wrong with a BFG tire. BFG, ultimately Michelin, will stand behind their tires.

The 365 issue at the de-coupling groove is not a quality issue, but a design issue. The tire design was to solve a perceived problem relating to edge wear but instead it created a different problem. At this point all we who have 365 steer and tag tires is to avoid full lock left or right hand turns at slow speeds because of the side forces imposed on the tires. When making such full lock turns lift the tag.

315/ 80R 22.5 ST 230 MSPN # 55458 are $498.10 Plus FET 52.83 and of coarse install and taxes. Hope this helps if you check around we are more economical than the others. If you have questions just call us we even find the best place to go that have the tires in stock for you. We do the hunting we want you to have the best experience when you are get your tires.
