I took my bus out on a run today, it started after 4 days of sitting and that’s great news.
The Jake does not work however! I left the driver window open, placed the Jake switch into the 1st position and at 40 mph took my foot off the accelerator and shifted to 2nd gear. I heard no outside sound and no drag beyond the downshift.
I then took it up to 60, put the Jake in the 2nd position, took my foot off brake and shifted to 3rd gear and again it slowed based on the transmission not the Jake.

You can definitely feel it in stage 2 if working, even stage 1 will pull a little on mine.

Hi Glens,
I always thought when the Jake was on and you took your foot off the peddle, regardless of speed or transmission setting. You’d feel resistance like you were no longer freewheeling?
I remember when I first drove a Newmar 40’ DP we were on the interstate going 60 and our exit was coming up. The salesman had me put on the Jake or retarder, whatever a Cummins uses. When I took my foot off the peddle there was an obvious slowing, way more than a transmission drag.
That’s what I expected with my bus “an obvious drag”! Jeff told me to turn on the Jake going 20 mph and take my foot off the peddle and report back to him.
I’ll do that Friday and let you know?

You will know if it’s working for sure. Have the stock muffler on mine but can still hear it if driver window is open. Turn it full (2nd stage) on and second gear rev that puppy up to 2000 rpm’s and it will drag her back with rumble if working. I know you need them for sure. Don’t know if they have a breaker on them. Will check on mine and see. I know you told us but how many miles on your coach?
