Motorcycle Lifts
My wife and I just bought our first Prevost, and we couldn’t be happier. During our three year shopping experience, we kicked around several different ideas about Toads, trailers, and the like. I’m not yet comfortable enough to pull the H2 around, so we were considering a Hydralift (or similar) to tote the scooter, then just rent cars in bad weather conditions. What are the pros/cons/risks associated?

We’ve
had many discussions about the cycle carriers over the years and the
effect on the bus structure. Small carriers for a scooter or light
cycle would be no problem as long as you stay within the hitch limits
as stated by Prevost. Some are 10K and some are 20K with certain
tongue weight.The
big carriers such as Overbuilt Lifts with a Hog or Wing on it put’s
serious stress on the frame and engine cradle and has caused stress
cracks. Jon will probably address this in more technical terms. -

The bottom line on towing or carrying is Prevost has established limits for both. Your engine cradle supports the receiver hitch or any motorcycle carrier. Depending on the model it will have limits of 10,000, maybe 20,000 pounds. There should be a label on the hitch. If not you need to refer to the build sheet which Prevost can provide.
In addition to a towing weight limit, there will be a tongue weight limit, which could be 1000, 1500, or maybe 2000. That weight is based on a specific distance from the bumper. For example the limit might be 1000 lbs, 8″ from the bumper. If you carry a scooter or motorcycle that weighs 500 pounds, but the carrier is 16 inches from the bumper you are at the weight limit. If you are carrying the same weight but 24″ from the bumper you have exceeded the limit.
Somewhere on the discussions on the forum was this topic explored in detail. I don’t know what search words to use other than motorcycle to see if you can find it. The definitive word was from Prevost and their post made it very clear exceeding the limits could create problems with the coach.

My wife and I took it to Lufkin to the same service center Larry and Diane use. Diane just happened to stop by while we were there dropping ours off. And if I can ever figure out how to load photos on this site, everyone will get to see it..

Above the reply box is a square that has a tree and sun in it. (Next to the you tube box)
When you click on that a drop down box appears. Click on upload.
Another box will drop down allowing you to search for the photo you want to paste in the reply box.
After selecting the photo, click on “Open” and it will load into the first drop down box. Click on Okay and the photo will appear in the reply box.
You must have the cursor in the reply box where you want the photo to appear otherwise it will not load.
If you put two H3 coaches together do you get baby H3 coaches???????
