  • model 2010.74 Webasto non operational

Posted by Rick on November 15, 2015 at 10:57 pm

When I hit the 12 volt heat or hot water button. My Webasto unit sounds like a jet engine and turns off after about a minute. I cleaned the photocell and no change. No spark, no diesel being “sprayed” everything points to the fact that that I may need a new control module to the tune of $800. So she whines like a boeing 727, no spark and no diesel spray. I suck with voltmeters. Any thoughts…….and no smart ass cracks from Truk or Mango.

    Rick,

A high limit thermostat that has failed open will allow the blower to run but will not permit fuel to flow. The thermostats are in a square cove on the top back part of the exhanger.

A call to me with your VOM meter at the ready at the burner would let us do some trouble shooting that could get the problem sorted out.

Could be a number of things Skippy, fuel pump, nozzle, coil, temp sensors, photo cell or brain box, you’ll have to trouble shoot. When was the last time it was serviced? If it was serviced maybe something was done wrong. Your’s should be 24v and I have a new brain box if you want to use to trouble shoot. If you can’t work on it yourself, best bet is find a place with the test box that can point to the problem.

Rudy thanks for the offer, I don’t have a meter, not that I shouldn’t have one, I think I’ll have to go buy one so Tom doesn’t pick on me. However from a rally a long time ago I have a booklet produced by Mango called “the good, the bad and the Webasto”. I used it to try to diagnose what I thought to be a simple problem. Without the use of the tester it points to the control unit. But no doubt that I will buy one of those and it’ll be something else. I just thought that since the only thing that works is the “jet” motor and with no spark and no fuel it may be something very obvious to those of you who are familiar with the unit. To answer Tom’s question, as anal as I am about maintenence, I can’t find when I last had the unit serviced. I think that the plan will be to head to Florida and have someone service it at my site rather than try to find someone in NJ . If I need heat I’ll use the 120 system.

Rick, stop at Parliament on your way in…they’ll take care of you. I’ll bet it’s the blue dot thermostat. Geo.
