mistery air line
I fiured out why the stock Gast auxiliary air compressor was disconnected and why previsous owner added a pancake compressor…….The pistons rings were worn out ….Motor good just needed a rebuilt kit. Pumps lots of air now. I will install it tomorrow….hopefully …if somebody chimes in and helps with mistery line…
There were 2 lines coming out of the head of the pancake compressor- one 1/4″ pipe connection going upfront under the driver to the distribution valve for the Aux /house air and a 1/8″ smaller line going towards the back. This thin line enters the side wall of the compartment towards the rear and I can’t see where it goes.
I did find a very similar looking line coming into the control panel for the long gone Electric/pneumatic Zip/Dee patio awning in the next compartment over where the AC units are. On the left side wall of that compatment there is a large control box for the old patio awning. There is a solenoid, control board, backup batteries, and quite a few air lines going up into the wall and ultimately in the back of a closet ( right above) where I found the air lines coiled and capped …looks like the place where the patio awning actuators would have been connected.
Does anybody have a late 90’s Liberty with a Zip-Dee electric/pneumatic awning and can look at their AUX compressor location and maybe take a picture or let me know what is there ? In my coach the AUX compressor is to the right of the 8D house batteries bank, behind the wall of the second compartment passenger side.
I have heard that some coaches had a separate smaller 12V compressor there for the awning system and that is where the small dia. line should have gone to ? Could that be it ?
If not, is that small line supposed to be connected into the AUX compressor with a “T” ? If that line proves to be for awning only I won’t connect it at all…. but if it is needed for other things then I need to figure out what and keep it.
The awning I am going to put on it will be a zip-dee but not a pneumatic system. The less air lines running into walls, the better…less leaks. There is no reason to keep this Zip-Dee air/electric control system here if I don’t have a pneumatic awning… so I am taking this whole system out.

that sounds correct, when new it would of had the gast aux air comp. and then a 12v compressor for the awning.

This is what my 01 looked like.
The Gast was for aux air and the small compressor on top of the air tank to the rear was for the autoawning.
