Minimum height
Question. I have a 42 x 70ft already erected steel building. The largest door currently installed is an 8 x 10ft door.
Through months of research and hassle I just received the first real quote to replace the door with one that will work to get my 1993 Liberty in the building. The door will leave an opening of 13.1 (building limited) high and 15.5 wide. I am going with with the extra width so I can easily put the bus sideways in the building.
My question is this? I know that the 93 Liberty will fit. However, I would eventually like to upgrade to something in the mid to upper 2000’s. With the suspension lowered would 13.1 give clearance to a mid 2000’s Prevost? I would assume I would not purchase anything with roof airs (just do not prefer the look).

And, I believe you will be good with an H. My ’07 Liberty fit under a carport that the owner stated was 13′ 3″ and I did not have lower from normal, travel ride height. He watched as I approached and stated there was more than an inch to spare. Good luck!

A lot of H’s with top mounted awnings are 13’4″ I would try to get a 13′ 6″ door, even if you have to mount it on the outside.

Trust me I wish I could. We simply do not have the space or height in the existing building to go much over 13.

In all seriousness, how about making a dip in the entry to allow more space if making the door higher is a non option. I was once involved in a new build of a large yacht, during the build the owner to be decided to make the interior height bigger, which in turn made the entire yacht higher. Had this decision been made in the beginning the boat would have been constructed in a larger shed. When the decision to increase the height was made the yacht was not completed enough to be structurally sound enough to move. SOOOO the yacht was finished in the same shed and a dip was dug at the entry door to allow removal of the finished vessel without any damage/reconstruction of the building or the vessel. A flip up ramp/panel was made to match the bottom of the original buildings door.
Know it seams a bit out of the ordinary, but looks like your options are limited.

The floor is probably 8 inch concrete. Could I possibly shave an inch or 2? I guess that’s possible but not sure that would be worth the effort unless I knew that would ultimately accomplish a goal that has not yet been determined.
I was hoping to just gain some real world knowledge of true height of our coaches when lowered.

A wider door sounds like you might be making a turn while entering. I wouldn’t count on being able to make a sharp turn with the suspension all the way down.

I can tell you mine is exactly 12′ 11″ at ride height. The measurement is taken at the top of the DishTV dome which is mounted in the dip at the from of the coach. Have never taken a measurement when lowered.

Yes I will be going in at an angle, but I will be able to lower it after the angle is set and then raise to ride height to maneuver once in the building.
