I’m at Everglades Isles and have been informed by Mark Connolly the owner that he will not honor any PC discount and whatever rate you received when you made your reservation is the rate. He said he talked to everyone who made a reservation and there are NO discounts. I will remove Everglades from the discount program. I set this program up in 2014 with Marks approval, but things have now changed and rentals are not their focus.
According to Mark, the goal here is to sell lots and not be in the rental business. There is a new policy now that rentals longer than 3 weeks will not be permitted.

One would think that he could have let you know this ahead of time…….

can be sold. We have stopped by there earlier this year and we thought the resort is nice.
However, listening to the airboats coming and going all day … The noise level is such that,
no way, would we invest a penny to buy a site nor would we be interested in renting there.
Not even for a day or two. This resort is not on our list. -
We stayed there last year and were laughing at their asking prices for the lots. They are at LEAST double what they are worth. I live in the middle of nowhere and would still call that place remote. In addition to airboats they had gnats. Billions of them. No, we are looking forward to seeing folks but the park itself is rather insulting and we couldnt be less concerned.
-
Karl, I agree wholeheartedly….knew 5yrs ago they’d never sell many lots. Looks like next year will be somewhere else. Geo.

Agree with the comments about the park. But the luxury we all have is the ability to simply turn the key and down the road we go. Great going to these places for the comradery. But the moment we’re ready off we can go. After you get your fill of crabs just turn the key and you can waive goodbye to all those gnats and unwelcome airboat wake-up calls.

The bugs were terrible last night, as soon as dark shows up, you cannot be outside. I looked at the sales poop we got and see they have sold 7 lots in 5 – 6 years since the parks inception, so that pretty much tells the story. The prices range from 129K to 489K. The rental rates range from 1050 to 1430 per night.
From 8:30 am until 5:30 pm, if you’re on the water, you’ll have a hard time having any conversations outside because of the air boats. Across from us there are several companies and I counted 19 boats that come and go in 45 minute trips all day long. There are other companies that probably add another 20 boats to the mix.
We’ve been here before and knew what to expect, but we have friends with Motorhomes who met us here for 4 days of fun and they’re sticking pins in my voo doo doll.
Beautiful place if you can put up with the bugs and noise.

I guess we are lucky here now. There are no bugs around at all. No air boats either…very quiet…

Don’t believe Mark. Where he lives he is awakened by the cracking sounds a house makes as the temperature drops below zero. He hears the music of snowmobiles running all night. He sees the display of sparks and hears the sounds of a V blade snow plow truck going past the house at all hours of the night. Right now he wishes he could hear the music made by a mosquito as it gets ready to bite him, but they are all frozen solid, like his pipes.
-
Funny enough, Truk, when we were there last the same 7 lots were sold, but for less than half of what they were asking at that time. Somehow they got the genius idea that if they weren’t selling the best way to stimulate demand was to raise the prices, lol!
-
Actually, this winter has been mild. Hardly any snow so far, and no sub-zero temps. Jon, I am far enough from the road that I don’t hear or see the plow…..thought I would clarify that. The house has creaked a couple of time though….
-
My bad…….I had forgotten with global warming Mark is now living in the Miami of the north. We also have had warm temps and now that it is starting to get more like a normal winter I am worried about the effect it will have on the palm trees I planted in a weak moment.

We have 20 sites blocked for January 26-30 2017 at the Naples Motorcoach Resort. The rally rate is $550 plus tax per night!!! We have full use of their Clubhouse and kitchen. You must call and book your site through them. The # 239-530-0153.
Many thanks to Jon and Tom for the sides, beer and wine. -
Nice job on the slide show Cory, looks like everyone had a good time. Lets make that an annual event and fill the place up.

Regarding Everglade Isles Rv Resort: The inaugural ” Claw Fest”, now a PC “no rally rally” began 4 yrs. ago as an informal gathering of a handful of us during Seafood Fest. We moved it last year to a date that did not coincide with the festival as no one really cared about those activities in town. Everything at Everglade Isles was always fine…until this year. The event was a success and we all had a great time. Neal and Deena hosted a Brat Broil Friday evening. We had the Stone Crab Claw dinner Saturday and Sunday Cathy and Scott hosted Pot Luck. Everybody contributed appetizers the 3 nights and PC provided the sides, beer, wine and goody bags. All this in spite of the new regime at the resort which can best be characterized as a combination of indifference, greed and nickel and diming. As a result, we as a group will not be back and I doubt that any of us individually will be either. Their loss and Naples Motorcoach Resort’s gain. The difference in attitude, accomadations and price is stark. Looking forward to a great gathering Jan 26-30 2017. Geo.
