Mini Cooper Brakes
I currently flat tow our mini-Cooper and use an Air Force One aux brake connected to the coach’s air brakes.
my only complaint is the way the cylinder mounts to the brake pedal. I have size 15 feet and my toes are always getting hung-up on the cylinder.
I need to change the system so that I can also tow the mini with a Sprinter van. Something like the Stay N Play Duo.
Question: Is there a system where I can mount the cylinder on the firewall and connect the cable end to the pedal?
Any thoughts welcome!

M & G is the best, simple system without all the parts and pieces of an Air Force One.

I also have a Mini Countryman that I tow sometimes and it has the Air Force DUO system…….I feet your pain. Size 12 shoe here and the cylinder abdsolutely gets in the way!

The NSA tow bar with surge brake cable worked well for me towing a Mini before we purchased the Lincoln. A bit tight to fit the Bowden cable up through the firewall on the Mini but,once in place it was out of the way of my feet and easy to adjust for the amount of braking (not a lot and only in hard braking) I wanted. I did not want the Mini’s brakes trying to slow down a 48,000 bus!

I just had my 2018 Mini Cooper hardtop, 6 speed manual, set up for towing behind my Sprinter.
The tech used the Demco model 6258 supplemental braking system. They tell me it reacts to the brake lights of the Sprinter. The Demco switch mechanism is setup in the passenger foot well if I want to turn it off (in case someone stole the plug at the bumper).
So far, I’ve towed it twice and it seems to work smoothly.
I looked at the attachment of the brake cylinder at the brake pedal. It doesn’t get in my way as I wear a size 10 shoe.
The Mini is a fun little car to have!

Tom, I have an M&G on my Jeep and love it – but there is not room to install one on the master cylinder in a mini.

Glens, I need to have my Mini weighed as I see anything from 2,600-3,000.
I think mine would be the lightest as I have the small 3 cylinder engine, 2 door, no sunroof and manual transmission. I’m thinking about 2,750-2,800.

We had an M&G on our 2012 Jeep Liberty but when we bought a 2020 Jeep Cherokee, there was no room so had to go with the M&G 2 braking system. It’s an air cylinder system like Air Force 1 but the pedal connection is not an issue for me. Not sure what the AF1 looks like inside but here’s a pic from their website.

Mark forgot you sold your Prevost and bought a Sprinter. probably would need help on the braking for the light car. Have a Blue Ox i inherited with this new RV that sits on the floor and attaches to brake pedal if you’d like to try that system. Don’t know a thing about um.
