I just looked at Marathon’s site and saw several updates this month and viewed invoices for new 2014 coaches. Maybe, you hit someone elses site. BTW, I don’t necessarily consider 4 inverters better than 2.

Just a note here, I’m trying to learn about these converters. Seriously, I always thought if we were to jump up to the Prevost lifestyle, it would be with a Marathon. We’ve toured the factory, etc. I always considered them the Rolls Royce of converters as I was not all that familar with any of the others.

I may have very well missed an updated spec sheet from Marathon, I will dig deeper.

Also, another noted difference between the two is that Millennium uses Aqua-Hot and Marathon (from the 2012 spec sheet that I found) uses two hot water tanks. Maybe it’s different now.

I know we have a low level coach currently (Monaco Dynasty) but I really like our Aqua-Hot system, it has worked flawlessly over six years except once, a kitchen hose cracked and dripped water on the AH computer board shorting it out which was not the fault of AH.

Again, both brands make gorgeous coaches I’m just trying find the differences. We only have one inverter and have never had an issue. The reason given that Millennium has four inverters is that you can power everything, no need to manage power.

I’m not extremely mechanically minded, its just not my forte’, I’m trying to learn the differences and what they mean.

On edit: I pulled up the Marathon site and you can see on the right side that they only list specifications up to 2012. Yes, they are showing two 2014 coaches in production.

Mr. Mark, If you call or e-mail Nelson at Millenium, he’ll happily explain his reasoning. He explained it to me and it made sense, but I would’nt presume to relate it accurately.

Marathon Coach does use two inverters. We find that this configuration is best although we would be happy to build a coach with four inverters and extra batteries if a customer made the request.

With our current system, if you are driving or dry camping and exceed the ablilities of the two inverters the generator will start and can easily handle all the coaches needs.

While we can add inverters, we have found that most people don’t like giving up the extra space and weight. Also, if you are utilizing all four inverters you are draining the batteries fast, even with extra batteries added. Again, extra batteries, extra weight and space used.

Draining and recharging batteries at an excellerated rate heats the batteries and shortens their life.

ON ANOTHER NOTE:

Marthon currently produces an average of one coach a month, most of which are custom orders. We have FOUR spec Show Coach models on the production floor now. Two of which will be at our Newport Beach rally next month, a third at the Tampa Show, and a fourth for Indio this winter.

Marathon is growing, adding empoloyees, producing spec coaches, and attending events.

You did find the one the one thing on our web site that needs to be updated which I will take care of. Otherwise you can visit our photo gallery and inventory pages which are always up to date regarding new and used coaches.

So there is some clarification on the reasoning behind Millennium’s 4 Inverters I thought I should step in here. We feel 4 is better than 2, kinda like two hands are better than one and 4 eyes are better than two. One goes out you have three, two go out, you’re like everyone else. We can operate all 4 roof mounted units without relying on the generator which in turn uses .9 gallons an hour. Dry camping…. we can run all 4 airs and the dryer while watching Matlock and not have the generator running for a period of 4 to 5 hours. Two A/C’s on an 80 degree night you’d be looking at 10 hours of dry camping time. Each Inverter weighs in a 61 lbs so that’s not going to really effect us and we carry 8 4D AGM batts., not allot of weight there either. As far as heat, we had a company come in with Thermal imaging cameras and helped us strategically place ventalation for our cooling system. But above all else, it’s for redundancy. Every system on our coach has a back up, and some have a back up for the back up.

I also want to say Thank You for responding to my post. I also have 8 AGM batteries and 2 chassis batteries (10 total) on my mid-line all electric Monaco coach.

I like the fact that Millennium puts the generator radiator on the roof (not sure of the other converters) and the fact that you use the Aqua-Hot system.

One thing I am very pleased to have seen on this thread is an exchange of information about the thought behind system designs.

In many discussions on this forum we talk about diagnosing systems and trying to figure out why things are as they are. On this thread we have had the rare treat of having two well respected converters sharing information about their systems and the underlying reasons for the designs. Great information guys.

I don’t want to rain on this party but the problem that I see is that all the converters are depleting the batteries past 50 percent,the voltage that the converters are using for automatic generator start is less than 23 volts which according to the battery manufacturer reduces the life cycles of a battery.This low voltage does give the converter a bragging point as to how long their product will perform before the generator starts.I have been told by 2 converters that their pulling the batteries to this low voltage will not reduce the lifetime of the batteries because their instillation is unique,the battery manufacturers disagree with anything below 50 percent.
