  • Microwave plug is dead??

Posted by Archived on March 2, 2015 at 12:50 pm

    Hey all…….

New to Prevost and the forum……….

We bought a 97 H3-45 Marathon. It has a few small things(nuisance(sp?)…) items wrong.

The most bothersome is electrical ‘stuff’…..my weak spots.

Microwave is fine……….it’s plug is dead. Called Marathon and they’re trying to help me find the power source for this thing.

The GFCI plug(s) in the bath/ vanity are also dead. Thinking they may work together.

More info if needed………..anyone have the perfect fix……Whooooooo!

Thanks in advance for any and all input……..appreciated; much.

Is it safe to assume all other circuits in the coach work?

If so start at the electric panel for 120V and start checking breakers and connections. I assume you tried to reset the GFCI?

I have had to search all GFCI outlets to find the first one inline that’s tripped as nothing past the tripped one will work… may be inside a cabinet too.

    Good luck

    All other circuits are fine……..

…….. replaced the ‘bad’ GFCI plugs………..tested the wiring for power while I had the plug off…….nothing there.

Surprised there is not some breaker/ switch/ or other connection that is not marked ‘microwave’…..??

Of course, it may be there if/ when we find it, eh?

Just a matter of time, I hope……..someone has been here before.

    Thanks much………Ol’Ben

Look in your 110Volt electricial panel real close. I would suspect that the microwave is on a dedicated circuit. Are the circuit breakers listed on a chart inside the panel that would indicated which circuit is for the microwave? Is there a seperate smaller panel that has all the inverter loads? If so, the microwave is usally powered thru an inverter.

Marathon–Oregon……….says there are no breakers for this microwave.

It has a relay in line somewhere and even they don’t know where…….bring it in to Marathon and

    we’ll fix it…….???

I wonder……how are they gonna find it if they don’t know where to look.

#1…….I ain’t driving from Illinois to Oregon for this. I’ll find another circuit somewhere and

tie the oven into that and be done. (drive the next owner crazy, eh?)

Looking at our Marathon Inverter Flow Chart (Owners Manual Section 4 Power Source) shows a 30A breaker off Inverter #2 that serves Microwave, Bath Vanity and a convenience outlet. It sure sounds like the 30A breaker is tripped.

I’d look for the 30A breaker close to Inverter 2 – maybe in the bay. Since we have similar vintage your electrical system should be close.

    Good luck,

    Gerald

    Ben,

Mine is an H, but you might have the same setup. This electrical panel is in my 2nd bay on the wall.

    Hey……….thanks for the input y’all………..

We just got another layer of snow so I’ll wait a couple days before checking the new info……..especially about the box in the storage area.

    Old men/ cold weather don’t mesh well…..

    …..those posts look very promising.

I like the one that has the oven on the same circuit as the bath vanity………fits my problem for sure.

    I’ll be back…….(no….my name ain’t ahnald…..Heh !)

I knew I was in the right place for this.

    Thanks much………..Ol’Ben

    ………….inverter # 1.

Talked to Leon and Jeff at Marathon………they walked me thru troubleshooting step by ‘baby’ step!

Whoops……there it is!………..back to school at my age, eh??

Now to post for a replacement……
