I run at least 5 psi over the Michelin chart for each axle (currently I am 10 psi over on the tag). Given the issues with the 365’s and suggestions I have heard on running a little more pressure in the tag I am upping the tag to 100 psi. The chart shows 85 for the tag based on weight.

We just had Ethan with Michelin at our Seminar this weekend and I asked that question, should we run 100 psi on the tag to help with the separation and he said no, lift the tag in tight turns.

The message we received from Michelin is if we know the side by side weights on our tires to inflate both to the pressure called for on the heavier tire.
I only know my axle weights, not that of each tire position so I use the Michelin pressure chart that assumes equal weights and then add 5 PSI, which should give me both a little extra pressure so I have a probability I have compensated for side by side differences in weight.

So Jon:
Can you tell us what pressures you are running on each, front, drive and tags? Lots of opinions here on what to run as just need to find a common ground to assure optimum pressures.
As you know us XLII’s are limited on bay space so can’t carry all the extras that an H can carry so we should all be close to the same given like kind converters, water, fuel and dump tank capacities.

First a disclaimer. The pressures I am providing are for my coach and the only way for an owner to determine what pressures are acceptable for his coach is to weigh his coach with all his personal effects normally carried, full fuel, full water and an empty holding tank. The weight should be with passengers that are normally on board.
Steer tires: 105 PSI
Drive tires: 85 PSI
Tag tires: 80 PSI
The pressures are the weight according to the chart, but I added 5 PSI just for a little extra margin and because it will compensate for a side to side imbalance on the steer and drives only.
The tag is because the lowest chart pressure is based on a weight much greater than my actual. I did not want to go below the posted lowest pressure. However, there are formulas for calculating the tire pressures and when I ran the calculation it came out to a 70 PSI inflation pressure. I determined if the formula is accurate I am 10 PSI over the needed weight so I left it at 80.

I appreciate your comments and understand individual coach axle weights drive the answer: I like you, have learned to leave a lot of “stuff” at home and not get over zealous in overpacking the coach. Always say, what i forget or leave, i can always purchase. For reference, I am running:
steer: 105
drive: 95
tag: 90
I haven’t heard anyone running in the 80’s as just goes to show the differences as believe most are running more pressure than is recommended..

If we are to make an error on our tire pressures, at least make the error on the high side. A low pressure tire is a recipe for a tire failure and all the heartburn associated with that.

Currently weighted my XLII at PrevostOrlando temp @ 65 degrees with bus sitting overnight inside.
Front = 15227 365/70R22.5 Tire press= 100
Drive = 22184 315/80R22.5 Tire press = 90
Tag = 8915 365/70R22.5 Tire press= 105

Based on loaded weight I have been running the same PSI as Jon.
Steer tires: 105 PSI
Drive tires: 85 PSI
Tag tires: 80 PSI

What are the thoughts on the added stress on the drive tires as you lift the tag during turns? Need extra pressure to support the added weight?

Steve, your tag tire using the chart would be 80, the lowest pressure.

It seems we are all similar in weights and tire pressures, but please, please, please do not assume your coach is like others. Verify your weights by getting your coach weighed and then use the tire pressure charts on either the Prevost site or Michelin site to find the correct pressure needed.
The cost to get accurate scale weights is in the $10 range at most truck stops and is the starting point for determining what your pressure should be.

I’m 1,100 miles from coach at our winter home in Sarasota, FL so don’t have the weights in front of me. Do know the tire sizes.
365 Steer tires: 105 PSI
315 Drive tires: 85 PSI
365 Tag tires: 80 PSI
