I am almost certain they cannot be towed without removing the drive shaft.

Actually a driveshaft disconnect is a viable means of towing a vehicle that might otherwise not be suitable.

Unless it has an enclosed driveshaft I would think a Sprinter would be an excellent toad for Alan so he and Mary Kay can drive us everywhere when we are together at a rally. In fact he could probably fit all of us.

I’ve used a driveline disconnect for years on two GMC Jimmies. They work very well, and also work well as an anti-theft device.

I have also used a drive shaft disconect on a ToyotaTundra. No problems at all.

Jon: Actually I want a van to tote the dogs to agility trial sites as some of them are not very Prevost friendly and leave the bus at better RV accomodations. You might have to squeeze in by the dog crates, however it will have A/C and generator as I compete in the SW and summers can be warm. It will have a nice comfortable chair for Lady Di however. (Sorry, no cassette or 8 track tape players as they are just too hard to come by)

Alan, check the weight of the Sprinter, I have not seen a tow bar rated for more than 10,000 pounds.

I don’t know what the vans weight but might come close to that.

I looked on the Mercedes site and I see that the 3500s run from 9,990 to 11,030 pounds.

These were just the vans, no conversions.

I wonder if anyone does make a tow bar of greater capacity.

You may want to check with Tom Johnson Motor Homes. If I remember correctly they tow one to rallies for a support vehicle.
