Member Map
Is there a member map? For example a map of the US and Canada with markers of where all the members live. So If I needed to ask Diane a question it would have a dot for her in Texas I could click on and would give her contatct information?
Also, whatabout an intereactive map that shows moving dots(or pictures of members bus) that showed if other members were traveling close to where you are?
So basically It would be based on the gps of your phone. LIke all apps it asks permision to use your locaiton. Then we could sighn in and go to that drop down menu (Members) in that menu there could be Member contact info then another titled Members on the move
You would click Members on the Move(set up a small profile and pic of your coach) then drop to the next tab “on the move” then select your profile to put it your days you willl be traveling, duration of the stay, where you stay(This will allow members to ask quesions about where you are and what its like) Once you give permision you would become active onthe map. The map would be a bunch of moving dots(buses) as people were driving. When you stop for the night the gps on your phone would tell your location. I think it would be awesome and a neat way to meet other members while traveling.
Then there would be a tab that said Home for now (something like that) with all that info.
More of a social interaction? It would make an awesome APP. Butch and I get excited when we see another bus on the road and we wonder where are going, I wonder who that was?
How about sticker to put in the windshield that was identifieable from a distance away (maybe something flourescent and that glows in the dark? It just needs to have a PC on the sticker.
I don’t know, we just think it would be cool.

The closest we come is in the map section found on the forum main page is this map for the purpose of providing a map of members willing to help in a medical emergency, such as to re=position a coach or help a member in need.
Generally our members tend to protect their privacy so we can add them anytime they want, if they want.

We are also curious when we see another bus on the road, but I don’t think you need to see the PC plate on the rear of ours to recognize us–I have yet to see a Prevost with a paint scheme anything like ours. We are getting ready to hit the road next week, a quick trip to Prevost in Ft Worth for engine service, and to Marathon to install a new air cylinder for the bath pocket door. After we’ll probably head up to Riudoso Motorcoach Resort again for a little heat relief.

As a group with a common interest we have changed.
When we got our first bus in 1990 there were relatively few conversions (motor homes) on the road so if we saw another Prevost we were waving and flashing the lights at each other. At that time bus drivers (seated coaches) would wave at us or flash their lights.
The internet was just a gleam in Al Gore’s eyes at that time so when we went to rallies and met other owners we really did not have a convenient way to stay in touch or discuss issues common to us all. I think the change began when the dot com crowd found about Prevost conversions and it wasn’t as much about the lifestyle as it was impressing the neighbors.
The converters were doing an excellent job of building coaches and the number of owners was growing fast. When forums began on the internet we had the ability to talk daily with other owners and it went back to more of a lifestyle, but our numbers were getting so large we weren’t recognizing other coaches, we weren’t waving to each other and the bus drivers and truckers if they waved it was with the finger extended.
I would love to go far beyond having access to a map of other owners. I would like to see a registry with controlled access so we could talk to others with the same converter and year. I would like to see all of us in a registry with our bus photo and personal photos.
I wish someone would write a book with the individual stories of owners. Our group is diverse and is full of interesting people with fascinating stories.
Unfortunately our names and addresses and contact information is valued highly by people who want to sell us something or otherwise view us as deep pockets ready for picking. We had our privacy invaded by the people who owned another site selling that contact information so we just are not ever going to allow anything about our members to be released. If members want to have member to member contact, if the email access is not allowed by the owner we are not going to provide it to anyone. We have pissed off at least one advertiser who thought he should be allowed to do a mass email.
The internet is fantastic, but it is not private so there are things we cannot and will not do and a map will not be made available with any names on it except those willing to add their own.

Ok Jon. So is there any way we can add a topic heading in the forum that says something Who’s OTR, or that might be confusing with the air. Maybe call it “On the Road again”?
Then if members want to log in when and where they will be traveling and what route they are taking they can track each other that way.
Might be fun!

The short answer is no. If members want others to know where they are they post it on the forum or email or otherwise contact who they want to know. I don’t know if Tom and I are on the right track, but we don’t want there to be any way, other than the members themselves, for anyone to know anything about our members. We respect our members’ privacy and want to minimize any chance someone who doesn’t need to know has access to such information.
We will not even give out an email address without approval from a member, even though we know the people requesting it are friends with the member. Sorry for not doing that, but we do not want to be the web site that provides personal information.

I don’t think I’m making sense. I don’t want personal info out on the internet for everyone to see. When you say, “post on the forum” that is what I’m saying. But I don’t know where members post these things, so I thought a designated forum would be easier.
But now I just sound like and idiot that wants peoples personal information out there. Not the case at all. No disrespect but I have had my identity stolen 4 times and it wasn’t because of a cool site like this. It was because a retail person decided they needed it more than me.
We love our bus so much and know there are others that feel the same. We love adventure and just like to hear how others use their coaches.

You are not stepping over the line. In our 26 years of travel with our coaches we realize we are viewed by others in some cases as targets. We have people bang on the door wanting money. We have had people ask to see the inside of the coach as if they are entitled to a tour. The less information we put out the less likely any information can be used against us.
We make every effort to limit access to any information about our members. A number of us know what it is like when information is put out. The impact can range from annoying when we all of a sudden get spam or telemarketing calls. But it can also make us victims, such as when people know we are not home and therefore may become victims of a robbery, or we may be pestered by folks we would rather not see while we travel. It is too bad we even have to think about things that way, but today’s world is completely different than the one most of us had when we were much younger.

In 25 years of coach ownership and 16 years of luxury coach ownership, we have never had anyone bang on the door asking for money, but then we almost always stay in a campground, and of course we are not as rich as you are!;) The only time we have been asked to see the coach (last one or this one), were fellow campers, like the nice couple we met in RMR. The wife asked to see the coach, and Margrit gave her a tour, and got a tour of their brand new Allegro Bus. The wife really liked our large windows, but Margrit liked our coach much better.
We also talked to a FMCA national director camped next to us in a fairly newTradition, and while he didn’t ask to see the coach, he expressed interest in a non-slide Prevost–he was tired of messing with slides. I told him about Al’s coach, which is probably one of the best coaches for sale for the money. Interfacing with other campers exposes more folks to Prevosts, and some are starting to realize owning a Prevost is not as impossible as they think. We hear stories about how they spend as much time getting warranty work done as you would spend zeroing out a coach, but of course the warranty work is free. But it is a indication of the quality issues with new coaches costing as much as a mid-2000 Prevost. -
We have had “panhandlers” bother us in rest areas and truck stops. Men and women. Several were such that we moved the coach as quick as we could. We prefer to stay overnight in RV parks, but there are times when we will use a rest area. In 26 years we have experienced issues of that nature about 10 times.

If this topic is of interest to lots of folks maybe Dawn or someone could set up a separate “On The Road Again” website… and interested parties could join and participate. It could be dedicated to Prevost only owners.. That way everyone would be happy.
PC could advertise it.

If I understand Dawn correctly, all she is suggesting is a place to communicate with other members while on the road and traveling. It would be easy to modify the Prevost Lifestyle Topic to include something like:

Tom, I would construe my post of June 21, 2016 as one that is “communicating with other members while on the road and traveling”. Didn’t even need the topic heading to include “Traveling Chat”.
Notice I did not post that we were in Quebec until after we left Quebec so the buugy man wouldn’t get us. Kiiiidding!!!

We have the private site still available. There would be a need for insuring access is limited because while we try to make sure members are legitimate and not potential hackers we can never be sure. If privacy is not an issue we can easily just create a heading for travelers to post their location, itinerary, or travel dates. But my concerns still stand. The world seems to be going crazy and I don’t know if our members need to make their plans public.
