Down in Montgomery, AL. Put about 1500 miles on in the last three days. Left SC last night and pulled into a Flying J this morning and the Check Engine and Do Not Shift light both came on. Stuck in Drive. Checked Trans fluid and it was low. Added 4 quarts. No change in lights. Tried to drive to see if it would reset. Will not shift out of second gear. When parked, trans fluid goes up to about 225. When driving, it drops down to 190. Hate sitting here idling in D. I’m afraid to shut the engine down and not be able to start it back because Trans in gear. Any ideas? Need to be in Mobile in a few hours. Thanks. 661-809-2463

    Oh yeah… It’s the 1992 XL, 8V92 with Allison 755.

Wish you all the best. I am of no help. However, if you get it resolved please post the solution. I can imagine one of us will encounter this in the future.

    Best of luck…..

All is well. I thought that I might need to cut off the engine and turn the batteries off to reset stuff, but I was concerned about the transmission being stuck in D. But I talked to a local mobile mechanic and he told me to do just that. So I did. I left the batteries disconnected for about 10 minutes and when I restarted it, all was well.

I was told that anytime you set a code like that, you’ll need to shut off the batteries for it to reset. Made it to Orange Beach in plenty of time, so there will be a show tonight. Thanks ya’ll…

Hey guys! Sorry. Just got home yesterday and been running around doing home stuff. Actually, I’m not touring for myself right now. I’m writing and recording songs for a new CD. When I’m traveling now, I’m out with some of these young guys, so don’t really have an online schedule anywhere. I always share my adventures on my Facebook page, so feel free to find me there. If you search for Dale Houston, you’ll find two entries for me… Actually more, but the others are business pages. These are the main two.

One is my personal page – https://www.facebook.com/Songman64

And the other is my music page – https://www.facebook.com/DaleHoustonMusic

Once I get the new CD done, we’ll start working on putting together a new road show. Thanks for the interest! In the meantime, if we are near anyone I’d love to meet you!
