Mattress?
Posted by Thomson on June 12, 2016 at 4:40 pmHas anyone successfully shoved a ten inch thick full Queen matress into their XL bus through the door. I’m wondering if it is even worth trying. Any hints?
Thanks.

Get a Gel Memory Foam mattress…. they are compressed. Just don’t open it until you get it in the bedroom.
We love ours.

Bought our coach 3 months ago and it has a 13 inch memory foam mattress the PO bought a couple years ago. We’re thinking of replacing it so we’ll be interested to know if you get yours through the door.

Thom,
We had a king-size Sleep Number bed in our previous (stick and staple) motorhome. What a piece of junk. The origninal motor was replace by Sleep Number under warranty but also failed. The wands failed too. We took that piece of junk Sleep Number mattress and threw it in a dumpster in St. Charles, MO.
We drove down to a mattress store and bought a king sized Beauty Rest pillow top mattress and had them deliver it to the motorhome. They were able to ‘squish’ it through the door and it sprang back to life once it was placed on the platform. What a wonderful comfortable mattress!!!!
When we sold the SOB motorhome, we took the Beauty Rest mattress and used it on one of the guest beds at home. I bought a replacement RV mattress at Camping World when we put the motorhome on consignment.
I don’t want to undermine those who have a good Sleep Number system. We had two total failures. I’ll never have another bed operated by a pump with wands….. can’t go wrong with a normal mattress!
So, if we could get a king pillow-top Beauty Rest mattress into our regular motorhome, I can’t imagine a queen mattress not fitting in yours.
Safe travels,
Mark

We did exactly what you are trying to do in 2008 in our XLII. A little tight getting through the door and making the turn into the bus, but really no problem. I also had the mattress delivered to the motorhome (actually drove motorhome to the store).

Thanks folks. I really love the pillow top queen I have in my S&B. I’m going to try to take it with me when I leave.

Thom,
I hope you enjoying your bus and getting a lot of use out of it.
Sorry I don’t have any input on the mattress.Jim

go down to Potomac mills and visit the Sleep Number store. We got ours at 50% off. They delivered right to our bus and we had them take the old mattress.
I pulled up the horizontal base of the bed frame at the head of the bed. I put the motor on a bracket and ran the power to the outlets by the pedestal.
we love it.
