  • Marathon pnuematic lavatory door problem

Posted by Tad on July 13, 2017 at 11:16 am

The pnuematic lavatory door closes but will not reopen with the button. It is very difficult to open til past a certain point, then it opens fine. The door seems like it is catching on something. Has anyone else had this problem? Worked great before.

Have not had that issue before on mine.

Have you shut-off your Marathon Aux compressor and let all the air out?

You can then manually open/close the door and see if it’s catching something inside. Something may have fallen or gotten jammed in the bottom to prevent the door from opening freely.

There is a rubber bumper that can get caught in the track above the door. To check remove the track cover on the inside (2 screws on mine) and watch as the door closes/tries to open,

    Gerald,

Just curious, but can you snap a pic to show what two screws? I have four screws in two separate tracks in the door opening, and two screws in the track above the door, but behind the wall next to the toilet.

Tim, I’m not close to the bus at the moment so I can’t help with pictures.

But when this happened to me, I took off the piece of trim that covers the track inside the lavatory right over the door opening. I could see the rubber stop jammed in the track. I think it is supposed to provide a soft close feature.

Your jam is in the first part of the track since the door continues to open just fine once you are past that point. Alternatively, you might be able to extract the piece of rubber just looking up at the track.
