Marathon patio light upgrade to LED
Converter used 24 volt bulbs in factory install to soften light, I’am also told wiring is factory 12 volt … So I used 12 volt LED bulbs at $11.95 per bulb assembly.
Marathon has 3 patio – cargo lights on curb side. Upgrade total cost $35.85.

Assembly removed from frame
Weather cover removed exposing base. Blue wire to bulb, ground wire with screw secures to frame
Removed ground wire with screw loop thru side hole on weather cover. We will cut wire at plug -in base and reinstall LED wire through side hole then use a new connector.
Requires new connector on LED wire for install to match existing. This is the only change needed for LED upgrade. Could of cut existing connector but wiring is really short and this I believe is the best way staying with a connector change on the LED bulb. There was very little excess wire inside lamp frame.
Original 24 volt 70 watt (yes 70 watt) hologen bulb.
New LED ready to crimp
Shows ground eyelet install going back into weather seal and new red plug on LED bulb wire.
Ready to re- assemble in frame. Wiring wrapped using 3M # 33 Super all weather black tape

three months ago I bought 8 of these leds on Ebay for $9.99 with free shipping I still have 6 in the coach. I installed one by the entry door.
I gave one to Jim ( the TV guy) at Marathon St. Antonio and kept the rest. The back up lights are the same bulbs, I will be changing them as well when I have the time.
I don’t understand how I was able to go to work, I am retired but can’t find the to change two bulb, go figure.

Al are you saying that you used a 12 volt light in a 24 volt source or was the orignial light a 24 volt light in a volt source?

The wiring is 12 volt for these lights. 12 volt halogen was too bright, and too hot (heat). The cure was using a 24 volt light bulb powered by a 12 volt source.
Changing to LED 9 bulb 1 watt is amazing. More light , heat not even consideration with LED.
