  • Marathon H Cruisair Issue

Posted by Archived on April 26, 2018 at 6:06 pm

Now before you start yakking about yours being great and blowing 55 degree air, you’re hanging meat and your better half needs a blanket, mine doesn’t.

My overhead front A/C even though new, struggles to maintain temps. As you’re aware, the overhead on an H is really hot and the evaporator works overtime to cool. I recently realized mine has no cabin return air vent. That’s correct, no grate or source for return air.

After spending time with Fred at AAP and Jeff while at Bella Terra, we came to the conclusion a return air source will be in my future. As a temporary measure, I can remove the Marathon installed decorative vinyl cover behind the overhead speakers and induce return air to the overhead compartment. That move immediately reduced my output A/C air temp by 8 degrees.

I’m a Marathon fan, no bashing here, just pointing out what I think is a flaw.

Marathon makes a great coach and I seriously doubt they would have not made provision for return air. It is likely someone made some mods in the past without giving consideration to the need for return air.

Not modified, even the vinyl piece has coach number on back.

Mine has a black screen which hides the equipment, but allows ventilation.

Same as Tom’s, was up in there trying to find a 12v source for installing Girard’s LED awning lights.
