If you need the hitch to be 20,000 pulling and 1500 tongue weight make sure you look some of the older XLs have the smaller hitch. 10,000 pulling. and 1000 tongue weight , all XLll have the bigger hitch,

So weather you want a coach with out a slide check the hitch rating On the XLs

Coach 721 must be the blue Marathon on your site–looks like a nice coach! We are a little worried about how well 3 Cruiseairs will combat the heat camping in Las Vegas in 120 degrees. Not sure which coach is 788, but by the number, probably above what we were planning to spend. Would love to visit with you and look at your coaches–have heard good words on you from other PC members, just not sure when we can make it out there.

Our buyer withdrew from the handshake deal based on some BS the Cat 3176 engine is a “junk” engine, so we are back on hold for our Prevost buy. We were starting to get excited about the Marathon coach at Olympia, but we can’t have two coaches! I guess we’ll enjoy our coach fro a while yet.

Per, our 40 footer is Marathon 593, a 2000 model on 1999 shell

There are some differences between an XL and XLII

Xl has single pane windows, XLII has dual pane, helps with noise reduction and heating and cooling. No ice build up inside when your in below zero temps

XL has disc brakes steer and tag, drum on drive, XLII has disc brakes all way around

xL doesn’t have speed sensitive steering, XLII does

XL has fixed rear fenders over rear tires, XLII rear fenders are hinged, so they swing up allowing for easy maintenance and or tire chain installation

XL has lever operated tilt telescoping steering wheel, XLII has air push button operation

XL openable windows are manual, whereas XLII windows are air or electrically powered

XL has manual operated drivers toll window(they slide). XLII are a smaller windows powered electrically

599 probably has the generator exhaust sent thru to roof, where Marathon XLII’s have exhaust plumbed out the back. This is one item I definitely have wanted for 15 years, our current #0593 has it

All 3 of our Marathons have had cruise airs, and we are very happy with them. But we don’t spend days or weeks in 120 degree temps

lLater XL’ after T-5873, somewhere during 1997, have IFS. All XLII ‘s have IFS

replacement glass in XL is cheaper in XLII

Jim,

Thanks for the information! We like the Marathons we have looked at so far, but are not opposed to considering another converter. A bit disappointing the deal fell through. While we can trade, all we will get is wholesale, and I had hoped to get a bit more. If nothing happens by spring, we will lower the price until it sells, or we trade it in. We really liked the pictures of 671, and would have liked to check it out better in person. We liked the idea of buying in Nashville, so we can get a coach checked out by Prevost. If the coach checks out, we would take it to Jeff’s place to have him go through it. But at the latest, we’ll get our Prevost next year–one way or another!
