  • Marathon Bathroom Door Locked from inside

Posted by Michael on September 21, 2025 at 8:17 am

    Hi,

I have a new to me 2004 Marathon XLII. Last night it appears someone went to the bathroom and somehow pressed the lock when leaving and closing the door so now we can’t open it from the outside. I know there is an emergency release on the inside, but I don’t know how you open it from the outside in this scenario., I will call Marathon tech support, but I don’t think they are open on Sunday so I thought I would see if anyone with a Marathon knows the trick to this dilemma.

    Thanks!

There’s a couple more emergency release switches in the bus. Should be one in the overhead cabinet on the wall on the same side as the bathroom, you need to look around or Marathon can look at your build sheet and tell you.

If you haven’t found a bypass switch yet, you can try dumping the air out of the air tank that feeds the Marathon installed air rams such as the bathroom door, bed lift, step slide, gen air bags (on my Coach) and push the door back. It may bleed off the pressure. I have had to do that in the past. My aux compressor and air tank is in the generator bay that feeds these.

Thanks for the replies. Turns out that in my coach the bathroom does not have an emergency release on the outside – only the inside. I spoke with Marathon and the answer is to turn off the 12/24V power which resets the lock and then you can push the button to open it. Next time I will know.
