  • Marathon A/C switch lights

Posted by Darryl on October 21, 2022 at 8:42 pm

I just brought the bus out of storage and it is experiencing strange symptoms in seemingly unrelated systems. The bus’s clock was zeroed. One of the dump valves was driven open and the micro switch in it is no longer working. The radio/screen for the backup camera is not working. The biggest is the A/Cs. These are the only things I’ve found so far.

I push the A/C switch it momentarily turns red then flashes(green?). The SMX is powered but it doesn’t control the A/C. Same for all three A/Cs. I’ve checked/cycled all the breakers.

It lives in a metal building connected to 50amp power with a surge protector. I fly for a living and I’ve seen lightning do some strange things. Is it possible it took a spike?

More importantly any suggestions to them working again?

    It’s a 2002 XLII if that matters.

    Thanks

You might try re-booting the whole coach (shut down and re-start). I’ve had some strange things happen and this has fixed it.

Hope the reboot works for you. I have seen some very strange things from even nearby lightning strikes.

Definitely reboot. If this does not work give Marathon a call. They generally are very helpful.

    Thanks to all.

I tried the reboot and called Marathon. Says its a COMM issue, bring it in so we can hook it up to diagnose it.

I’m in TN they are in FL, TX, OR.

Just to close the loop on this one. Brian was able, in about 10 minutes, help me ID the problem and a work around until he can repair the control board.

    Great guy to talk to.
