  • Man, these things are TOUGH!

Coming through Oklahoma City yesterday someone lost their chrome bumper. Well the blasted thing managed to get into the lane to my right, but a pickup ran over it and kicked it back into the front of the coach. It hit HARD, went under the bus and spit out the back somewhere, along with some of the insulation from the bottom of the bus.

Got over to the side fully expecting to see the front smashed, possibly cut tires, etc, etc. ……………I got a ding in the front stainless, that’s it. I’ve shined a light on everything under the coach, it’s all good. I can’t believe how tough these are, thanks Prevost.

Good thing that didn’t come up and hit the windshield. Don’t think you would have been as fortunate.

Road junk like that is a good way to get a hole in oil pan or transmission pan, but they usually show up real quick! Drips back there are the first thing I would check for, next time.

Its my understanding, and I can’t remember where I was told this or read it, that Canadian law mandates any “commerical vehicle” (defined as I recall anything bigger than a one ton dually) manufacturered in Canada must be able to withstand a direct hit with a moose at 65mph and be able to continue on without the impact affecting the steering or braking allowing the driver to safely bring the vehicle to a stop after the collision.

I can tell you if you hit a moose in a bus or truck it will do lots of damage like take out the rad or the windshield we deal with that kind of thing every day

Edit. If you hit one in a car or a pickup truck a lot of times the driver is killed or very seriously hurt!!!!
