Maintence of Belts
My generator gets a work out all the time while traveling as we are rarely plugged in while away from home. I want to do all I can to prevent a problem on the road. I routinely change the oil, oil filter and fuel filter. I have also replaced the antifreeze. The belt that runs the water pump looks good, but I’ve never changed it. Should this be routine maintenance at some point? Equally important, I can’t see the fan that cools the radiator and have never had it apart. Do I have an electric fan? Is there a belt I should be replacing? I have a 17.5 power tech in my 1995 country coach.

If your vintage is like our previous 2000 CC XLV, you have a belt. It’s a PITA to get to and replace, so you don’t want to have to replace it on the road. BTW ours was a 17.5 Powertech mntd fr to rear and not on a slide. Geo.

This is a general comment……Our generators do have belts or the remote cooling fans have belts. The problem is none are visible but they do need occasional replacement.
Unless you know your generator or generator radiator belts are new or recently replaced it might not be a bad idea to give some thought to inspecting and possibly replacing them. Better to do it before you need the generator.
